Staff was very friendly, and food was pretty good. The Tika Masala chicken I had was outstanding. My wife had the coconut curry lamb, and said the lamb had an unusually strong flavor. All in all, we would go here again.

Easy walking distance from our Hotel allowed the Ambrosia to win on where we were going to eat but with hindsight, the Indian meal was very enjoyable, making the restaurant a good choice. We weren't sure how spicy things would be, being used to the...British variety of Indian Restaurant but to be fair we needen't have worried as it wasnt far away from what we are used to at home. the food however was very tasty, and servings were definitely sufficient to fill you up when washed down with a couple of Taj Mahal beers. Decor/lighting in the restaurant was good and added to the ambience, and the final bill wasnt excessive, so all in all a pleasant experience.More

I have a great love for Indian food and I looked forward to eating here... Unfortunately it was one of the worst Indian restaurants I've ever been to. We were not done with our starter when our waiter came and pushed our plates for our...main dish under our nose. I had murgh Tikka and it was dry and hardly seasoned. It fit more in a bad Ceasar salad than in an Indian restaurant. When I made an comment I got watery tomato curry which was also bland. Do not go here if you know and like indian food, since they do not serve any.More

This is a great spot a short walk away from the crowds of Fisherman’s Wharf and the Cannery. The portions were a nice size and the brown rice was a nice touch. The ambiance is cozy and the outdoor area is very lovely. The staff...is super friendly. Overall a great experience and definitely a place worth visiting.More

A favorite spot whenever I visit Monterey. The food is savory, and the buffet lunch is generous and a great culinary vacation from the ordinary.

When I do my research for my road trips, I not only check on Triple D restaurants, but also Indian restaurants. I found one 5 minutes from my hotel in Monterey. I decided to visit it on my last night there. It was such a...nice evening I decided to sit in the courtyard. I never saw the inside of the restaurant so I cannot comment on it. The service was okay. However once I was served my food the next time I saw my server was to give me my bill. I was not able to be how my food was or order another glass of wine. I will say, papadums were served right away. They were nice and crispy. They came with tamarind, cilantro-mint, and chili dipping sauces. They were great, but I really liked the chili for the spice. For my main course I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and Aloo Gobi. I also ordered Garlic Naan on the side. I did find it strange I had to pay extra for rice. Pamadums were free, but I had to pay for rice??? It did not take long for my to be meal to be served. The Lamb Rogan Josh was very good, lots of meat and a nice robust sauce. I would have liked a bit more heat, but it was tasty. The Aloo Gobi was very good, but I admit I prefer more potato and less cauliflower. Small point because the spices used were just as I like them. I had a very nice time at Ambrosia India Bristo in Monterey.More

We were hungry and the waiting times elsewhere were too long. Found this, fancied an Indian meal.....wow! How disappointing. Stale popadoms, bland curry dishes, with 2 people trying to serve the restaurant. Would I recommend ? No. Would I go back - No.

I am an Indian and have travelled the world and so I know that it is very rare to get the taste of food anywhere outside India mainly because of the local spices being unavailable. And the same was with this resturant. Few things were...spot on like the chutney they gave at start. Rest all the food was not tasting like Indian food except Palak Paneer was good and mango lassi was good too. Ambience was amazing.More

Handles groups with flexible seating, welcoming staff and fabulous selection of fresh, delicious Indian Vegetarian and Tandoori meats and full complement of rice, naan, etc. We, including 4 children and 7 adults happily stuffed ourselves and were sorry to go. Dessert was the best rice...pudding we've had. Highly reccomend... near the Aquarium.More
