As long time Monterey resident who dines out a lot, I rate Cibo highest value restaurant on Monterey Peninsula for it's fine food, medium prices, best service, and music played at perfect volume for both listening, dancing and conversing. Food & beverage are EXCELLENT, with food for those who want super healthy vegetabbles. The decor is elegant & romantic. There is little turn over with long time servers, bartenders, & bus persons. They are appropriately friendly & remember what one likes. It is a locally family owned restaurant that makes me feel like one of the family. I feel like a million bucks everytime I go to Cibo. --- Sharon Chistensen aka Silver Fox

We were a table of 6 and it was just starting to allow people back into their establishments. So i would assume they were getting the rust off of the employees. All the staff were super nice and you would sometimes have 2-3 different people bringing you stuff. The Pizza's looked good, especially the Short Rib Pizza, The Gnocchi Dinner had a great presentation. I got the Bolognese Pasta, it was good not amazing but good. The creme brulee cheesecake was amazing, the Cannoli Not so much had too much of a citrus after taste, wouldn't waste time with that one. Overall decent Italian Restaurant if that is what you are in the mood for. Confident they are going to be amazing now that things are going back to normal. Sorry I didn't take any pictures here!

Located on one of Monterey's main drags, Cibo offered great people watching in addition to fine food. We were there during Happy Hour and had the fried calamari, Caprese salad, split the Bucatini Amatriciana and split the Tiramisu for dessert . The prices were very reasonable and we left fully sated. Our waiter had a huge area to cover since we were outside but he was very attentive to our needs

While the staff is friendly, the food is inconsistent and the prices are appalling. A saucer of olive oil and five slices of ciabatta should not cost $10. While some dishes were good, or even excellent, others were inedibly sweet and lacking complexity. It’s difficult to know what to order when a kitchen is this inconsistent.

Considering the prices, I expected exceptional service! The waiter was rude from the off! Asked for garlic bread, told there was none and that there was ciabatta. He took half our order and then went. A lady came and took over. I reiterated our order. When our kid’s food turned up, the pasta was tiny. For $10 it was 2 mouthfuls of spaghetti! Ours was $29 each for a plate of pasta. We both agreed the food was nice, but I felt the need to share my food with my kids. Why did the waiter not say how small the kids pasta was?! They also forgot one of my kids drinks and when I said this at the end, they said they would take off the price of a kids meal??!! They charged $12 for one of them, not even $10! I told my husband I was going to say something about the sizes of the meal and he said not to as he gets embarrassed, so we didn’t tip, paid and ran! I’m so cross! The food was nice and pasta el dente, and that’s the only reason I’m giving 2 stars!

We are from stockton, ca and every trip we take to Monterey we stop at Cibo's italian restaurant. This is the only place we eat at when we stay every year. The customer service is great!! When you are greated you are treated like one of the family. We will be visiting again this Saturday. thank you.

We loved it here! First of all the food: I had the veal chop, my wife had chicken marsala, we had a side of pasta with butter, and we shared the cheesecake dessert. All were absolutely wonderful. The Old Fashioned cocktail was expertly made, my wife enjoyed her Sauvignon Blanc. Service was attentive and accommodating. On top of that, they had live jazz--a singer and guitar (on a Wednesday night). I am a jazz afficionado, and they were great. Their program was the Great American Songbook, and the guitar player was channeling John Pizzarelli. We knew to expect the jazz but we didn't expect how good it would be. Our one regret is that they don't have a branch where we live in Boston. If they did, it would be one of our favorite places.

I always check reviews and I was almost hesitant in trying this restaurant but my husband wanted seafood pasta. It was close to our venue for the night "Golden Gate Theatre". My husband and I thought the food was excellent. I'm Italian so I'm a big critic. He ordered the seafood dish which he loved and I ordered the gnocchi. Yes it is expensive and to be honest 33.00 dollars for a pasta a dish is a little high and I would have expected more gnocchi but even so the presentation was great and the tiramisu was absolutely delicious! The service was great and attentive. I normally wouldn't eat at an expensive restaurant by it was worth the money as we were celebrating my husband's 70th birthday.

Really, wasn't expecting much and was very impressed with the quality of the service and food. The Caesar salad was great and enough to share. The bread was served warm and with lovely oil and vinegar. I enjoyed greatly the ravioli, as did my friends their seafood entrees. Tables are close together, but on an early Friday evening, this worked out well.

The restaurant hasn’t got the best decor but the food is tasty and plentiful and the service is really good. If you’re having calamari as a starter you need to know that it’s enormous and very good. We wished we had got it as a sharing starter.

After days of eating fish in Monterey we wanted something different. I was really in the mood for some Italian food and was recommended by the hotel to go to Cibo. First nice surprise was happy hour with three dollar cocktails. Then a lovely dinner with fresh pasta with home made sausage. and of course a nice Cesar salad. My wife had a chicken pasta with a cream sauce which she enjoyed. Service was excellent with a nice bottle of Chianti wine.

Outdoor seating. Try the fire roasted artichoke. Amazing. I had the rigatoni with fresh tomatoes. Excellent. Hubs had a Caesar salad and thin crust pizza. Both were very high quality. But the highlight was our server Milan. He was so nice to two older people and funny. Plus Hubs left the credit card. Milan remembered we were a staying at the nearby Marriott Hotel. He ran the block and a half and gave the card back to us when we were still in the lobby. Prince of a guy.

I was looking forward to having a pizza at this Italian restaurant. ‘No pizzas’ we were told but only when ordering our meals. We should have been told on arrival. I ended up having the ribbon pasta with sausage. What a bland meal. It was inoffensive but completely uninspiring. Service was efficient but a bit like the food, lacked quality and personality. Sorry but this place is not somewhere I’d want to come back to.

The most melt-in-your-mouth Italian food !!! Delizioso!!! CIBO means 'food' in Italian, too. Super Gnocchi, Ravioli filled with delicate cheese, and the mixed seafood grilled was just delectable. Very friendly waiter! I'd recommend to absolutely anyone. Comfy, elegant and delicious.
