This is a neat little basement restaurant just off of Alvarado Street. I have never been to a British pub, but this reminded me of the ones I've seen on tv. In keeping with the theme, my husband and I both had the fish and chips. The fish was very light, but I'm used to a lot more seasoning. I'm... More

The locals will tell you. The Crown & Anchor is a Monterey tradition. Whether you are looking for a tasty bite or a good night out, this is the place. I recommend the French dip. Ask for the meat rare if you like...they'll accommodate.

We visited on Tuesday for lunch, 4 adults plus a 4 year old. The welcome was nice and friendly while the service was slow and the food just plain average at best. 2 of us had bangers and mash, which was voted OK but lukewarm. I had the steak and mushroom pie, which was insipid and under seasoned beneath a... More

We were pleasantly surprised by this pub, located in the basement of a building. Food was good and service was excellent.

Stopped by here after checking Coronado Brewing Company's website and seeing that they carried one of my favorite beers on tap. The happy hour menu looked so good I stayed for dinner. I had an order of wings and a cornish pastie. Both were top notch, especially the wings. The service was excellent and there was a nice little happy... More

Met friends here from the driving school for dinner and drinks. One of the group is from Manchester and attested to the authenticity as an English pub. The owner, who is from York, came over and bantered a bit with our friend Their food menu us quite varied but everyone got the fish and chips or snapper special, both of... More

This is a busy place which rembles a film set for an Austin Powers film, the American idea of a British pub influences the decor and fixtures, having said that the staff are polite and helpful, the choice of drinks is good and the food also is worth a visit. If you're in Monterey then it's worth giving it a... More

I met up with friends for lunch here. They have patio seating where people can enjoy a beer and have a cigar. This place has very good burgers and their menu includes more than a standard fare for a brew pub. Good place to grab a bite before a movie next door.

Best dinner of our trip so far. I ordered the meatloaf and my girlfriend ordered the steak and mushroom pie. Both were delicious, very well prepares. Service was good and the price was more than fair. We would both recommend this place to anyone interested in a casual dinner.
