We stopped in for lunch while visiting Monterey for a family wedding. It didn't look like much from the outside but it had good reviews so in we went. It really is a first class restaurant and it has a very nice view. We were seated and our server brought us a plate of calamari, big enough for 4 of... More

Trip Advisor reviews pointed us to this restaurant as a good place to eat dinner. We opted for crab ravioli, fried calamari with a goats cheese salad to share as a starter. Indeed the food was good but service was far too fast. We still had some way to go with the shared salad starter when our waitress appeared with... More

We had a good dinner. Clam chowder was very good. My wife said her abalone was excellent. I had Macademia encrusted Halibut which was a little on the bland side. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Pessagno Pinot Noir which complemented our dinners.

This is a second generation family run business. Dad would be proud that his children have keep the traditions he started many years ago. High quality food, and impeccable service. The décor is a little old fashion, dark wood paneling and subdued lighting. The interior is very clean and need. This is not a place for children and they try... More

Everyone should visit Monterey at least once in their lifetime. Stroll Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf and don't hurry!! Fabulous food at Old Fisherman's Grotto at second floor corner table right on the water. Outstanding wait service by Giovanni.

We were hungrey and ordered the bowl of chowder. At $14, I thought it was a bit pricey; until, the server showed up with a huge bowl of soup. Neither of us could finish the chowder that my wife (raised near Boston) said was the "best ever." This is not a kid friendly place. No booster seats or strollers allowed.

Went for dinner after reading reviews. We were not disappointed, food and service was great. It is a bit pricey, but most restaurants in Monterey are. Both my wife and I had seafood and it was fresh and flavourful. Would definitely go back next time we visit Monterey.

At our hotel we picked up a coupon for a free appetizer for here, Fish Hopper or Scales. This place was highly recommended and it proved correct. At the front door there is a person offering samples of their Clam Chowder. We ordered the Calamari for an appetizer and then decided to have the Oysters Rockerfeller each which were fantastic....
