Looking at this place, you think tourist trap, honky-tonk, fried clams in a cardboard box, etc. Nope. We ate upstairs in a big leather booth, window seat, overlooking an amazing view. We had a free artichoke appetizer which was good. My daughter had a cup of chowder, which was really good (can't compete with Boston's chowder, but that's another discussion.)... More

It's been a few years since we last ventured into this restaurant. Mainly because it's expensive. However, in checking with the other touristy restaurants on the strip of wharf this one was pretty much average in all honesty. We decided to give this restaurant another chance (last visit was more than six years ago), and the food was just okay.... More

This place serves great food. The waiters are very friendly. The restaurant has excellent views of the bay. They serve great cocktails also. I really enjoyed my dinner there.

This restaurant is not child friendly. I've actually never had a more awkward/rude interaction with the restaurant manager(?) once he found out we had kids with us. "We don't allow strollers."-Great my kids are 5 & 2 and we don't have one. "We don't have high chairs or boosters." That's ok. We don't need them. "Or a kids menu." That's... More

Came to the Fisherman's Wharf 49 years ago. Bought a loaf of sourdough. Got some free butter. Sat on a railroad tie and ate it. Today we found a restaurant on Trip Advisor, got fish and chips and a bread bowl of Clam Chowder. The chowder was hot and delicious. The bread was fresh and delicious. The fish was a... More

We have been going to The Old Fisherman's Grotto for the last 30 years. The staff is excellent the food is great and the view is cool. It is the best place for lunch on the Wharf in Monterey.

We got there and were told there would be a 20 minute wait. No big deal, we grabbed a drink in the lounge, sat down, and the pager went off. That was quick! I had the chowder and a seafood pasta special. The chowder was amazing. I don't know what they put in it but it was the best chowder... More

To be honest I expected great fish when I ate here instead, the cod that I ate was quite bland. I couldn't finish it and had to eat again later that evening. My girlfriend got some chicken dish which was also disappointing. All in all I would not return, this place has great scenery, friendly staff (most of them) however,... More
