The French onion soup was good, at least 4 out of 5. The cannelloni with beef filet was delicious. A five solid. The service was outstanding, friendly and capable. But the duck confit, which should be a classic and outstanding in any French bistro, anywhere...in the world, was dry and tasteless. Inexcusable! Please fix this.More

Visited again on a busy Saturday night. Friendly welcome. Nice atmosphere. Just a bit too hectic for my taste. Terrine de campagne was just OK but cannelloni and confit of duck entrees were delicious. So pleased to dine in a true restaurant rather than another...fast food joint. Go there and enjoy.More

Initially good service. Ordered steaks medium rare. One was mostly fine, the other was medium to well. Good cut of meat…hungry…and didn’t want to wait for another steak to be cooked, so we told our server this when she checked. Kept a piece to one...side so they could show the chef when plates were collected. No response from the chef, which is not the norm in any good restaurant. No apology from anyone. Given dessert menus, but after being left alone for over 15 minutes, decided to leave. Hugely disappointing evening.More

You just know that there are real people in the kitchen cooking your order just for you. The server explains how the chef likes to do the lamb, and it arrives looking gorgeous and reportedly had a magnificent taste. Spectacular food, warm atmosphere, and friendly...staff made our dinner completely wonderful. The server adapted to our slow pace immediately. I also liked that my unusual order of salad for desert was taken without a twitch of an eye. Of course I picked up that habit from my French Canadian grandfather, so maybe it was a natural event in this truly French restaurant. Each course had careful, unique tastes, and Bistro Moulin was the best restaurant of our vacation. Note: beer and wine only.More

The wine list fit on one page but offered an impressive mix of French and California wines (including Monterey County selections). Gnocchi is offered as appetizer and entree, and it was truly outstanding with rich cheese sauce. Mussels and Onion soup were satisfying. Veal was...uninspiring in design and botched in execution (overcooked). The staff could not have been more attentive and friendly.More

A total horrific experience From ambiance to abhorrent waitstaff & appetizers disappointing, entrees were sad to say the least My coq au vin was dry and tasteless, my husband’s veal was blasé Never will venture anywhere near this establishment How it gets a plethora of...positive reviews is a mystery to meMore

This was our second dining experience at Bistro Moulin. Wonderful in every way! Our party of four enjoyed sea bass, cannelloni, duck breast, escargot and onions soup. All received high marks. Same for the cream brûlée and lemon tort desserts. Our waitress was knowledgeable, efficient...and very personable. Authentic and delightful summarize our experience!More

The place is exactly like a French bistro. It was a fine dining experience in a comfortable and casual setting. The tables are far enough apart for social distancing which also allows us to have a conversation without shouting over one another. The food was...superb. We ordered onion soup and escargot as appetizers; with Coq Au Vin and Moules Frites as main courses. The portions were very generous and we didn't have room for dessert. The mussels were cooked perfectly. The fries were very crispy and worth all the calories. Service was attentive. Our water glasses were constantly getting refilled. The location is only a short walk from the aquarium but away from the main touristy area. We will definitely come back here if we are in the Monterey area again.More

Finally open again for dining! Tables both inside and outside, for reliably consistent food and reasonably priced French wine! We ate outside at one of their heated sidewalk tables, and felt safe and separated from pedestrians. Service efficient and friendly, including suggested wine pairings. We...usually get the escargots appetizer since it reminds us of Paris dining! For main plate, I had a french version of “osso buco”, more subtly delicious sauce than italian counterpart. My wife had seared seabass in a cream sauce. Both were wonderful! We did not have dessert this time, but have enjoyed their chocolate torte in the past! The best part is that is only 1/2 block from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and is a great way to finish the day!More

Website says walk-in welcome... LIAR and BS... my girlfriend wasn’t feeling well so I walked over for dinner. The old short man dismissed me and said I could eat outside on the sidewalk. But a couple behind me... both no reservations... they got a table...inside..!! WTF... don’t support a bad business... times are hard for small businesses.. let this one go bankruptMore

Have not been dine out since Covid. Since me and my BF both got the vaccinated we decided to take a trip to Monterey. Most of restaurants now either open for take out only or dine in at outdoor space, surprisedly most of are fully...booked. Luckily we booked an outdoor dining spot at Bistro Moulin. Craving for nice French onion soup, we had that as starter. For main, we ordered duck leg and cannelloni. It was great and definitely bring the nice dine out experience back.More

We just ordered from there and I feel compelled to write about it. It’s delicious. The creme brûlée is amazing! My husband loved the escargot and the mussels. We will be ordering from here or hopefully coming in person again soon!!!!! Well done.

Yes, it serves tiramisu and small tartlets. I don't remember anything else. Try calling the restaurant. You definitely need advance reservations, as the restaurant is quite small. We have enjoyed this small gem twice.
