We have enjoying Bistro Moulin's dining for several years. We have never been disappointed. Every dish we've eaten has been carefully prepared and delicious. The sauces can tend to be rich, but we appreciate the portions aren't overlarge. The rack of lamb special recently was...to die for: perfectly cooked, meaty lamb with a sauce so tasty you wanted to drink it. The service is extremely professional and friendly. Seating outside is very limited, so definitely make a reservation. It's worth it!More

Saturday night we enjoyed Bistro Moulin's Take Out Menu. On the morning of each weekend service; they send their followers an email with delicious choices that include first course, second course, dessert and wine pairings. Last night my husband and I chose: First course their...classic French soup (which my husband says is his favorite even over our love for Parisian restaurants...he says Bistro Moulin's is the best! Then I enjoyed a delicious Veloute of Mushroom, with a touch of cream Soup. Delicious! Our main courses were: Cannelloni Tartuffi - Baked pasta with beef tenderloin, ricotta and truffle, with pink vodka sauce. Again this is one of my husband's favorites...its light but decadent at the same time. The pink vodka sauce really accents the ricotta and truffle. I had the Gnocchi aux Epinards - a spinach gnocchi au gratin, with parmesan cream sauce and beautiful seeded bread to dip in the cheese sauce. The gnocchi were light pillows of deliciousness...so creamy and flavorful. The melted cheese I could eat all day with the bread! Colleen, the sommelier did a great job of choosing wines for these entrees with a 2017 Chianti from Tuscany. I really appreciated that they didn't gouge you on wine prices either. It was a great value and delicious. Overall an exceptional dinner; especially that it was take out. We will definitely continue to enjoy Bistro Moulin's take out during the Covid-19 crisis.More

Covid-19 has taken a toll on restaurants around the United States. In Monterey County they've been opened for Take-out Only, then Open for inside dining, then back to Take-out Only, now Take-out and Outdoor Dining Only! It's been quite a ride for all restaurants trying...to jump through hoops to make it through the pandemic! My husband and I are so happy that Bistro Moulin is working through it. They continue to have extraordinary and positive service, delicious food and wine offerings and a wonderful experience! This meal we started with a 'soup of the day' featuring a savory mushroom soup; and of course we had the best Pommes Frites with garlic aioli (their fries are the best in the U.S. and better than we've had in Paris! For our main entrees we enjoyed "Confit de Canard:...(Duck confit, Beluga Lentils and Petite arugula salad.) and their nightly special...Fisherman's Stew with local rockfish, prawns, mussels, garden herbs, vegetables, with a zesty tomato broth. Their soft bread and butter made it easy to 'lap' up all the wonderful broth! We finished our evening with Tiramisu...which included espresso, marscapone, ladyfingers, and cocoa. Along the way we enjoyed beautiful wines to compliment the meal. Having been to Paris over 20 trips; Bistro Moulin is the next best thing, especially since the borders are closed right now. The service is consistently perfect, the food consistently outstanding and delicious, the wines chosen compliment the meal, desserts delicious! We keep coming back to Bistro Moulin as they provide that extra special experience inside, outside and take-away orders...they've been the best and can't wait to go back again!More

Bistro Moulin has long been in our top five restaurants in Monterey. We live in Monterey so we are lucky to be so close. With the onset of Covid 19 restaurants were limited to take-out and now they can add outside dining. We ate outside...last night and it was absolutely delightful! There are only three tables so call ahead for a reservation. The food was fantastic as usual, there is very little traffic on Wave street so you could carry on a conversation with no problem, and of course as always the chef and staff were so welcoming. We are supposed to be Paris bound soon, and after last night are not nearly as bummed about having to cancel our trip! If you look down the hill you can see the smoke stacks of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and do what we did, just pretend they are the Eiffel Tower! We just love the uniqueness of Bistro Moulin, the wine list, and authentic French touch that the chef has with his dishes. We are so glad that Bistro Moulin has weathered this crisis and is open for outside dining! It was a real pick me up last night, something we all can use right now!More

It is easy to get overboard on a review if you are truly delighted. In this case, it simply Is a fact! Having been sequestered for what seemed to be forever , my wife and I were more than ready to sample good restaurant faire....We went to three in nine days. Two we won’t mention because it seemed the chef & crew forgot their business. Let’s get to the “outstanding restaurant”. Small, intimate, quiet, with scrumptious food! A simple, but superb salad with beets, chèvre, arugula and a yummy dressing. Followed by perfectly seasoned and cooked lamb from a rack of lamb, a sauce that had to take days to prepare with subtle flavors, scalloped potatoes, and beautifully prepared green beans with almonds. Many chefs try this meal and a very few absolutely nail it! This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it is worth every penny! Look forward to returning!More

Like a quick visit to France for an elegant meal? Bistro Moulin delivers. Quaint atmosphere, excellent service, great variety of hors d’ouerves, entries, and delicious deserts. The profiteroles are to die for and were complimented with a nice house port. Stop reading and start eating!

We chose Bistro Moulin for our anniversary dinner and both loved our evening. The front of house staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu is very typical, having all your favourites and making the choice so difficult. That said, the gratinee a l'oignon and confit...de canard took me back to happy times in my Grandmother's kitchen! A good selection of wines by the glass to accompany the meal. Merci beaucoup!More

Superb French cooking by Didier Dutertre, trained in France, formerly chef of Casanova in Carmel. One of the best restaurants on the peninsula or anywhere else, for that matter.

Had a recent group dinner here. Had a private spot upstairs. Room was very large with its own bar. Service was really solid, probably could have used one more server for the size of our group, but they were friendly and hustled all night keeping...drinks filled and serving dinner. I had a ny strip steak that was cooked on point. The coconut ice cream for dinner was off the charts delicious. Glad we went here.More

Yes, it serves tiramisu and small tartlets. I don't remember anything else. Try calling the restaurant. You definitely need advance reservations, as the restaurant is quite small. We have enjoyed this small gem twice.
