For ME

I enjoy this restaurant. I've always walked away with a full stomach and a smile. Tasty solitude. Comforting music that mirrors the cuisine.

Old school is still very cool!

Walk into the past and sit down to a Great meal in a casual neighborhood environment. Everything we had was really, really good. Huge portions and reasonable prices all around make this a great value! From the garlic bread, to the gnocchi, to the desserts...it’s just hard to go wrong...if you are near Montebello/Monterey Park area in east LA find this place!!!More

What happened here?

We recently met friends here for a belated birthday celebration. We haven’t eaten here since last year, so we were looking forward to having a great meal. We were really surprised to be seated immediately (3 open booths) since it was prime dinner time. The...waiter service was excellent (as always!) but sadly Salvatore food quality has really deteriorated. First of all, the meal portions have been downsized and prices have increased. The sausage in the tortellini was not cut into bite-size pieces but rather left in large unattractive chunks. Did the tortellini’s shrink or was there just too much plate? The cheese and noodles in the meat lasagna (their signature dish) could not be easily cut with my fork. It’s almost as if the lasagne was possibly microwaved and not steaming hot from the oven. Normally we see one of the owners greeting customers in the dining room but not his time. We saw one of the brothers in the bar/kitchen area but he never surfaced during dinner service. Sadly, we will not be back to this restaurant. When the quality of food deteriorates from a well-established family owned restaurant and the Health Department rating is a B, then it’s time to look elsewhere to dine.More

Great Family Style Hole in the Wall

Love this place. Off the beaten path, but worth the effort to locate. On weekends they have classic Italian Restaurant entertainment.

WEEKLY VISIT

We have been going to this restaurant for many years and the food and service are excellent. In addition, the waiters (Edwin and Giovanni) are the best and they go out of their way to make sure everything is done properly.

Family owned, good, just not great

Love the family atmosphere. Everything was completely acceptable. Service was appropriately attentive. Professional. Wine - good, bread - good, salad - good, Veal Marsala - good enough but could have been a bit more. More veal, just a bit more Marsala in sauce but no...complaints. Quick service, clean and friendly. Would I go back? Yes.More

Lasagna

The atmosphere is old traditional. For a quiet meal, come here. The service and food is great. My go to meal is their excellent made Lasagna. It is super delicious. The Lobster stuffed Ravioli is a must. Reasonable prices for great food and atmosphere.

It's a beautiful restaurant, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. The prices are affordable. We went there for a Sunday lunch. The food was delicious.

Good Food and Great prices.

I love this place. My husband and I go there or we go with our adult kids. It's an old Italian restaurant that is family owned. It's a little out dated but that's what makes it special keeping it a bit original. It's clean and...the servers are friendly. The food is good and you get a good salad and desert with your meals. My favorite is the spinach lasagna. The regular lasagna is just as good. There's plenty of room for big parties and even a banquet room in the back where we had our daughters 8 grade graduation 10 years ago. Love this little place.More
