A fantastic neighborhood institution, Lai Lai restaurant is one of my faves in the Peninsula. Gary, the owner, is as hospitable as they come. They serve solid Chinese food and the service is always top-notch. Their family banquet meals are great deal, and always a...crowd favorite with my family and friends.

I ordered through Uber Eats. Had the Mongolian Beef, it was very good. I also ordered the Beef Brocolli to take with me on a flight the next day. (It too was very good). Both entrees beef was as tender as one could hope for....The egg rolls were a disappointment, thinly filled with cabbage. I would pass on these.
Overall, good food.More
My next door neighbor is Chinese and is an accomplished cook. When I asked him which Chinese restaurant nearby was the very best food, he told me to go to Lai Lai. My family of six went and proved him exactly right. The food was...delicious.
We eat this type of food all over the world and have for four decades. All of it from the pot stickers and scallion pancakes to the usually mundane but in this case chicken chow Neón and moo shin pork, was delicious. Superb preparation with the right spices and served in pleasant surroundings by great staff. The pancakes for the moo shu pork were the best, most supple, almost dim sum-like I have ever eaten.More
My wife and I ate here once a week when we lived in Burlingame in the 1980s, and our favorite dish was the sliced BBQ pork with hot mustard. Now nearly 20 years later, I return, this time with the two adult children. Ordered too...much, but took it home. The vegetable deluxe is still wonderful. Enjoyed the fried won ton, sweet and sour chicken, oyster sauce beef , and fried rice Yang Chow Style. However, the sliced BBQ beef is not the same, at all, and more like any other restaurant. Except for my HUGE disappointment about the BBQ pork, the food was very good, the waitress was efficient and polite, and the place is clean.More
My wife and I found this restaurant by an Internet search near our hotel. It's not fancy, but the food was tasty. And no MSG is added to the food. I had a half order of hot and sour soup (not as spicy as hoped)....My wife and I shared beef with vegetables, brown rice, and vegetable spring rolls. I had mango ice cream for dessert. The green tea seemed a little weak to me. The server was friendly.More
My wife and I visited here for dinner. The hosts were accommodating from end to end. The food tasted great, was well presented and was sumptuous. We were offered a sample of plum wine before we decided definitely on that; and it was very nice....Finally, the price was very reasonable. All in all a very good find while we stayed for the night at one of the hotels awaiting our flights.More
Time and time again this restaurant has been our #1 choice in Chinese/Mandarin cuisine. We decided to have take out like many other nights when my wife and I are alone. We had the won ton soup, prawns with vegetables and spicy Mongolian Beef.
I...picked them up and by the time I got home the food was still hot. The only suggestion that I have is that the soup was stored in a plastic container. Honestly there is no other choice besides plastic for take out, unless a biodegradable container?
Anyway, thank you to Jimmy and his team for making this meal a delicious one, like all the others we have had either take out or sit down.More
It seems like Lai Lai is loosing some of it's great consistency. I used to be able the same thing and it would taste the same way over and over....really good taste. Now when I order certain dishes, the flavor and quantity varies. It is...still good but not as good as it used to beMore
