Merced doesn't have many options for good restaurants but you can't go wrong with branding iron. Of course it is better than most of the restaurants and at the same time more expensive. A little cup of soup, cost 6 dollars, the one that comes with the meal, very expensive for that little,so even when the taste is delicious it... More

We have been coming to Merced on business trips for a few years but had never known about the Branding Iron. What a nice surprise! We enjoyed everything about our dining experience from the decor to the dessert we were very satisfied. The chef's cut prime rib was high quality and served with a fresh summer squash vegetable prepared perfectly.... More

Dined on a slow Monday night. Hostess and waitress very friendly. Misunderstood that we wanted a bottle of wine with two glasses and brought out two glasses of wine...which were comped with our bottle...nice touch! Even gave us a free dessert in honor of our 35th anniversary. Wife had prime rib perfectly cooked to med-rare. My steak, the top sirloin,... More

Enjoyed the chicken teriyaki and the non corporate atmosphere, and their conscientious service in helping us with dietary restrictions. Very homey atmosphere.

A nice restaurant for very good food, nice atmosphere and good service. Their soup and salad are fresh and delicious as well as the dinner. When we want a special night out, we consistently choose The Branding Iron knowing we won't be disappointed. You always leave full.

Went for dinner here the other night with family. Both the hostess and our server were lovely, and the food was pretty good (although the burger my brother had was very oily apparently, to the point of making him feel sick). The vegetables were in a strange and wholly unnecessary sauce and a bit on the cool side. I'd have... More

A local gem. Feels good to support a locally owned establishment. The owner was circulating the room greeting patrons as we dined. Wait staff was prompt, kept glasses filled and cheerfully brought our food quickly. Didn't save room for a full dessert, but the chocolate boots were tasty!Portions very generous.

First off, I don't eat meat so why am I reviewing a steakhouse? So,Y friends are carnivores. I checked out the menu and they had several seafood options. Thought I would order fried scallops because I never had scallops prepared that way before but I noted that the coconut prawns were a specialty of the house. They were amazing and... More
