It was a strange smell in the hallway, but not in the restaurant. The place was a little dark in my opinion. The gazpacho and onion rings we had as starters were really good! The meat we had for main course were too well done (we asked for medium or medium rare and got well done), and it really wasn't... More

Private room, great selection of menu items to choose from from big spenders to the those on a budget. Great people to work with when planning a special event , helpful with suggestions and I was able to add my own personal décor to theirs to make it a diamond wedding anniversary. Service was great! Food was very good too!!!!... More

The Branding Iron has arguably the best steaks and prime rib of any restaurant along US Hwy. 99 in California. The bar manages to make very good cocktails, too. Service is above what you might expect from a Merced location, but that is part of the charm. This is a good choice for a celebration, party or just an evening... More

We stopped in while driving from Sonoma to Yosemite. Town had a cowboy feel. This had a safe roadhouse vibe. Waiter was v friendly. The other two loved the bits of cow they had. I liked the sales and fish. Please pop in if you're passing. I'm told by my meat loving wife that this is as good as it... More

Can't beat their Prime Rib, Fillet, or enchiladas. We eat here more than any other restaurant in our area. Love it!

This restaurant has been around for a long time. It seems to cater to farmers and businessmen/women. I think's it's overpriced and the food is "good" not great. Banquets however I would rate a 2-3-the food seems like a Banquet frozen dinner-very bland, same ole stuff every time our local Bar Assn would have their meetings--got to be a joke--chicken... More

Without fail the wait staff, food and ambience is always pleasant and welcoming. I have several favorites on the menu but my all time favorite is the breaded prawns. Additionally, the gazpacho soup is without equal.

Our family had a mixed Experience when we ate here. I ordered the coconut shrimp & they were really good. Cooked well & tasted great. My husband ordered the ribs & they were inedible. So tough that it was difficult to cut them. He chose not to complain because it was a family gathering & he didn't want to upset... More

Visited on 07/06/16 – The Branding Iron, 640 W 16th Street, Merced, CA 95340 We went to have dinner at this restaurant and we arrived at 18:00 hours. This restaurant also has a separate bar. At this time there were quite a lot of guests already sat down; we did not reserve a table but it may be worth considering... More
