Recently my boyfriend and I went to C&O about 40 minutes before closing. It was my first time although he had been there before. First of all the atmosphere is so romantic and cozy and the staff is welcoming and tentative. I believe even at one point the manager or owner came by to check on us. We were seated... More

We have eaten here many times and have always had great food, lots of wine and more garlic knots than we can count. We live on the East Coast but always include a stop at C & O when we visit our daughter in Santa Monica.

A friend took me and my daughter here right when we landed. We were in the mood for pasta. Did we ever hit the jackpot! This place was awesome!! You sit in this open air courtyard ( with heaters since it was January). Portions are huge so sharing is best. If you see a dish that sounds good, you can... More

Very popular Italian restaurant near Venice Beach. Seating indoors or on patio courtyard. (Courtyard can get chilly even with space heaters.) Huge Italian menu but don't get bogged down trying to make a selection. They will basically let you create your own dish -- just pick a meat, a pasta and a sauce. Very large portions, and endless warm garlic... More

My wife, our baby, and I stopped here for an early dinner after walking the pier. The restaurant is primarily outdoor seating in a courtyard. On this chilly day the outdoor heaters kept us sufficiently warm. The courtyard is nicely decorated and had a nice ambiance with the hanging string lights and Sinatra playing. The complimentary garlic rolls were excellent.... More

The restaurant location and appearance shout old, worn beach town. There are 2 locations - 1 indoors in a garage type setting and 2 doors down an outdoor space surrounded by 4 walls. Both are not prestige but the table settings are clean with a crisp white paper overlay. Yet, the service is good , and the waiter Clayton is... More

We went for lunch at Tratorria. Everybody enjoyed the food. The garlic bread is delicious and free and they keep bringing it until you say stop. Good value and friendly service!

Just off the Venice Beach boardwalk this Italian restaurant offers a nice variety of Italian dishes and pizza. They offer a table bottle of wine and charge $7 by the glass of what you drink. The hot garlic rolls come automatically and replenished as you eat them, probably the best ever! The chicken in the dish that I had was... More

C&O Trattoria is a nice restaurant with a good vibe. The outdoor setting is very lively and quaint with a beautiful fountain in the middle of the dining area and soft lighting. The servers are excellent with attentive work ethics. The food in the past was some of the best authentic Italian food around. However, this time around. perhaps on... More

While the atmosphere is Nice and the service is excellent, the food leaves much to be desired. While the portions are gigantic most of it borders on inedible. The calamari is over done and gooped up in a horrible batter. The short rib that they raved about on the menu certainly was not falling off the bone, it was incredibly... More

C&O Trattoria (C&O) has been open since 1969. Now a well known Venice Beach landmark, serving Northern Italian breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. It has become known for good food and friendly service in a relaxed garden setting. On May 1, 1993, C & O Trattoria officially opened a Northern Italian concept, unlike any other in Los Angeles, serving gargantuan portions of high quality Northern Italian pastas at unbelievably low prices. Add our "Killer Garlic Rolls," nightly sing along, honor wine bar, and friendly team service and you have the C & O Trattoria, one of LA's premier Northern Italian eateries.

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
