If you bring your friends for a sail day or simply stay in the hotel, this is one of the loveliest places for a bite, especially for sunset!

Great atmosphere! Fun to watch the boats come by. Onion dip was AMAZING. Drinks were great too but pricey!

I am back at Salt bar and restaurant in St Clair, Dunedin New Zealand. The location is just perfect, 50 m from the beach. The food is absolutely wonderful and I cannot think of a better way to spend an afternoon than to sit outside...or in the bay windows and enjoy incredible ambience. I’m lucky enough to travel quite a bit and I’m based in Melbourne which claims to be one of the culinary Capitals of the world. I also spent a lot of time in LA and London. However for me to relax and chill out Salt simply cannot be beaten. The food is wonderful, the location is perfect for me but the knockout point is the staff. They are genuine, helpful, friendly and always look to help everyone. They do that not for a tip but simply because that is who they are. We are in challenging times and everyone is the times is stressed. For me personally, there is no better way to take away that stress and to be here at Salt in Saint Clair. NickMore

Salt is located inside the Marina Del Rey Hotel. If you go past the lobby you’ll come right to the bar with the restaurant surrounded by the harbor. It has such a picturesque view with the water and all the docked boats. We enjoyed sitting...there, watching the sail boats and fishing boats pass by, sipping on their signature cocktails. We started off with what has to be one of the best Caesar salads I’ve had. Romaine lettuce, with capers, pine nuts, and grana padano cheese. I don’t know if it was the fact that I hadn’t had dairy in 1.5 months or what, but either way, it was delicious and I wish I ordered the bigger size. Next, we went with the oysters, our guilt-free protien choice when we want to splurge and spoil ourselves without breaking the calorie bank. I don’t typically order salmon when I go out, maybe it’s because it’s something I can easily make at home. But I was kinda feeling it on this day. A major switch from the beef and chicken I’ve been having recently. This was filling and great for sharing between the two of us, combined with the other entree we got. The salmon was an ora king salmon, paired with a zuchini ratatouille, caper vinaigrette and what I believe was an avocado based sauce. This next dish, we all but devoured. It’s the loco moco, a Hawaiian dish made here with a steak hache. Steak hache is high quality steak that is minced and then formed back into a steak. This was topped with a mushroom gravy (divine!) and served with a side of white short grain rice and a sunny side up egg. Again, it was devoured. At the very least, you should go there for coffee and dessert. We went with the pumpkin cheesecake. Ooh my…so unique and delicious. I was clearly not wanting to be bothered by anyone while eating this cheesecake. We literally spent three hours here, eating and then later enjoying our coffee. I would recommend this place for a cute brunch with the girls, sunday funday, mother’s day, special occasions, or simply just to treat yo self. I highly suggest you come during the day and enjoy the outdoors. While they do supply blankets, you should also consider bringing a jacket too and dressing in layers cuz I went from hot to cold. We had an absolutely fantastic time. Can’t wait to bring the parentals next.More

Menu is very small. Portions are ridiculously small. Save your money and go elsewhere. There are lots of great restaurants in the area

Happy hour is amazing here with very reasonably priced wine and valet. And once again I have to recommend the avocado hummus.

Lunch there a couple days ago. My friend and I both ordered a cheeseburger. After a few bites we both looked at each other and said it tastes funny. So we sent them back I ordered fish and chips and she ordered another cheeseburger. Her...second cheeseburger was fine. About 20 minutes later either the manager or maitre d came over said he heard that there was a problem with our food and we said yes and he said is everything okay now and we said yes. Turned out the meat was rancid. And management did absolutely nothing to make up for it.More

Love SALT, only ever sat outside as so enjoy watching the sun go down over the water with a SALT 14 in my hand. Sometimes the service can be slow & could be improved with more servers maybe. Jesse is great.....New Manager Lisa took great...care of my client & friend I was entertaining last week & ensured we were happy, satisfied and even offered us blankets......My 2 lil Bichons love SALT too and enjoy sitting in their carriers at the fire pit!......It was a great night....Thank you Lisa, LouLouMore

The food wasn't greasy, very nice and quiet. It was a little too expensive for me, but my dad and I enjoyed it.
