Two friends and I had dinner tonight at Beachside Cafe. We are locals and have enjoyed happy hour here which is not offered anymore. We were overcharged $90.00 on our bill tonight! Thankfully we questioned the total and had the waiter revise our bills. Management...offered an apology of sorts but no compensation for their error!! Check your tab before paying.More
Old lumpy flan with half rotten fruit and who ever serves syrup with flan. Cheap, not homemade, flan for a whopping $14. saving grace , ok cocktails.
If you are staying at the Jamaica Bay Inn, this restaurant is attached to it, and makes the hotel a great place to stay. The food choices, although limited, are fantastic. There wasn't any food item we didn't like and since we were there for...five days, we had five breakfasts there, a couple of lunches, and two dinners. We took full advantage of our Hilton food and beverage credit of $ 36 daily. If there is a drawback it is that after five days, you want to simplify the eating choices by having two eggs over easy with some toast. You need to go elsewhere for that which is unfortunate. They are experts at the weekend Brunch type offerings though and that is the crowd they cater to which is understandable.More
We had a very nice meal here on our last night in LA. The restaurant it part of a hotel but can be booked separately. We were offered seating either inside or out but on this windy evening we plumped for inside seating which I...think was probably the right choice. The dining room is very airy and well ventilated. Service is very good here. We were assisted by Ron who was very personable and helpful. The menu is short but there are some interesting dishes on there. I chose a shrimp with jerk rub and grits which was very nice, well flavored but not overpowering. I, again, bemoan the lack of a "good rating" on TA since a jump from average to very good seems strange to me. This is a pleasant place to eat, somewhat expensive I guess but not too bad for the area. Maybe I am just getting used to the prices here. I would eat here again for sure. there is a good selection of wines including a few by the glass which is nice to see.More
Ordered breakfast from a very limited menu. Food was just ok but the price was outrageous. Over $25 for bacon, 2eggs, potatoes, one slice of toast and a cup of hot tea. Service was good but I won't be returning.
Ordered cheese platter - pretty basic / nice toasted bread, but cheeses were not fresh - somewhat stale. Ordered Grilled Broccoli Caesar - Broccoli was not cut up, large pieces buried in salad - Not sure it was grilled / crispy but no grill flavor....Wine pour was ridiculous…..More
the food was excellent, our waitress Jessica I think? was efficient and friendly. we sat outside and the view was nice though I did get a little cold. overall though can certainly recommend it.
We went for dinner the night before the Super Bowl. The location is lovely, right on the water. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We ordered the Plantains for an appetizer and they were covered in a very sweet sauce. We had expected something more savory....I ordered the Mussels, which were tasty, but were lukewarm. They came in a cast iron pan which should have been too hot to handle, but wasn't. My friends ordered the Tuna Crudo which they said had more filling than Tuna. Overall, a disappointing dining experience, especially at their prices. Wouldn't visit again.More
A lovely brunch in the sunshine ! Our waiter Justin had a ton of tables but was on top of every order. great service. We enjoyed the deviled eggs along w/ beach side scramble. Our vegans were very happy with the potato and veggie saute...-thank you.More
stayed at hotel and ate brunch here 3 different times. Covid protocols followed. Inside and outside dining with heaters. Ambience relaxing and inviting; staff friendly, fast and efficient; management makes an effort to be seen; food is excellent.
Great view from the patio of the beach and marina. Breakfast menu is 'fancy' as opposed to straightforward pancakes, eggs, etc. But good. Service was fine. It wasn't crowded. This place is in a hotel but there is access directly from the beach.
Beautiful waterside dining area. The patio seating is the best place to eat. The menu is limited on weekends but you can get a nice assortment of egg dishes or a burger. Servers were very nice and accommodating. One hostess would not seat us outside...enough tho there were quite a number of empty tables. I asked a second hostess and she happily sat us outside. Valet parking but about 2 blocks away you may find street parking.More
I was driving… Nice people. Great ambiance. So, I couldn’t drink. The bar was inviting. Nice people. Great ambiance. Overlooking the beach. I ordered a late-late lunch, (and used their ladies room). Classy menus: drink and food. No veggie burger with egg option available. No...burger(s) at all available. The menu was classic continental pub fare with a touch of global fusion, if there is such a thing. I ate the appetizer mezze (serves 1 or 2 people). Enjoyable. Exceptional customer service from host/hostess to bartender. Nice people. Great ambiance. Very nicely maintained like clean and cared for well.More
My husband and I went for breakfast - Our server, Susie, who at the beginning was very attentive, after she brought food never came back - we had to ask 2 times someone else for a refill of coffee - my eggs Benedict (with crab...cakes) had a huge piece of shell that almost broke a tooth and a piece of unidentified thread - after many attemps to call her - she finally came over and said it was normal since it was fresh crab and that she was going to tell the Chef -It was a windy morning and We were bith cold, so we asked Susie if we could have the heater on, she said she was going to ask someone to do it - It as the last we heard about the heater (nobody ever came) I requested a mimosa (took about 20 minutos or more to bring and then unfortunately when I reached out to grab my napkin I spilled it all over the table - Needless to say - nobody was around to clean it or to at least hand us extra napkins- I kept in signaling for her to come but she never did - Finally I went up to her and told her and she said she was going to send somebody - after waiting for over 20 minutes (no one ever came) we requested to talk to the manager who came and apologized, offer a replacement halfway cleaned the mess and left. We never saw Susie again at our table - so we had to stand up and look for her to hand us the bill. Although the place is really nice This experience ruined it.More
