My recent dining experience at El Torito was disappointing to say the least. Upon arrival, we received no greeting from the greeter, just a blank stare, setting the tone for the night. Our waitress, though friendly, mentioned she was new, which we understood but hoped...for a smooth experience nonetheless. Unfortunately, issues persisted throughout the meal. Despite reminders, utensils were forgotten, and my fiancé received only one enchilada instead of the two she ordered. We also wanted sour cream once the food came, but there was no sign of our waitress. When brought to the attention of another waiter, Ricardo, his response "She's new" lacked apology or accountability. Though sour cream and a second enchilada was eventually provided, we were still charged as if no mistakes were made. Furthermore, our original waitress vanished without explanation, leaving us unattended for the rest of the night. We had to flag down Ricardo again for the check and to pack our leftovers. This level of service was unprecedented in our previous visits to El Torito, leaving us feeling neglected and undervalued as patrons. Dining out should be an enjoyable experience, not a test of patience. We will no longer be spending our money at this establishment. I wouldn't recommend any black person to spend their money or to work here, we aren't valued at their establishment.More

We went for their Thanksgiving Buffet. We had overly sweet Margaritas, and Mimosas made with room-temperature sparkling wine of dubious origin. A lot of the food may have been very good, but much of it was at room temperature rather than heated properly on the...buffet table. The turkey station had what looked like a dried-out breast of turkey and, after eating a piece, it was indeed dry. On the plus side, the tableside service was attentive. Next holiday we will go elsewhere and pay more for better food.More

I am very sorry we did not deliver on our #1 goal – to guarantee you had a good time with excellent service at our restaurant. I would be very grateful if you allowed us an opportunity to continue this conversation and make things right...More

Good food but we have been to better Mexican restaurants. The margarita flights were good and impressive at table guacamole!

We took a friend visiting from Texas here because we had been told it was good mexican food. It was not. We have passed by every El Torito since, because we can't see paying good money for below average food. The service was average at...best as well. The best thing about this place was the view of the marina. But I can bring a sandwich from home, sit out there, and enjoy the meal more.More

Arrived around 8pm on a Friday whilst staying in Venice on holiday from the UK. Food was acceptable, but nothing special. Service however was very disappointing. Mains arrived within minutes of starters. Guacamole ordered as a side never arrived. Check arrived before we were even...asked if we wanted dessert! It wasn’t so busy that they needed the table but we felt very rushed and not at all welcome as a consequence.More

We went for Taco Tuesday. Service was fairly good, considering our waitperson was new to the job (we had to ask for napkins and utensils). The main problem was the tortillas used to make the tacos. They fell apart after the condiments were added. Eating...them was a holy mess, with everything falling apart. We ended up using a fork. A fork for a taco? The optional corn pudding was exceedingly dry. There was too much salt in the meat offerings (or maybe it was the cheese that is used?). We could also hear the next table complaining loudly about the same issue. Taste was OK, other than the saltiness.More

My wife and I stopped for lunch and had to sit outside due to Covid concerns. They have done everything to make the establishment as safe as possible. The menu includes very typical Mexican selections, Enchilada’s, Taco’s, Fajita’s, Dessserts, etc. In addition they do have...a full bar offering alchoholic beverages and soft drinks. I chose Chicken & Sour Cream Enchiladas which has Beans, Rice, and Jack Cheese with a soft drink. My wife had the Nachos Supremo which has Chicken, Cheese, retried Beans& more with a soft drink. Her comment was they could drop the Supremo from the name as there was no Chicken to be found. As for my dinner, it did’t have much taste at all. We found it all very disappointing. The high spot is that sitting outside affords a great water view. Not sure I’ll try this place another day. I hope you find this review helpful in making your next dining plans.More

A 1.5 hour wait, only to find that three of twenty tables were occupied when we were seated; more delays that followed; disgusting food--it was something chewable like food--that was served cold (steak, beans, rice, and congealed enchilada); and errors in our orders that were...never corrected: these are the main reasons we would never again entrust our time, money, or stomachs to this restaurant. Years ago we dined here and carried home not just a doggie bag but pleasant memories of a decent meal. But the past is a different place, a time when this El Torito did things differently and much better.More

El Torito is trying to deliver the same experience and has done a very good job opening outdoor seating in a section of the parking lot adjacent to the marina. It is very lovely to see the view. The wait staff is equipped with face...shields although some servers did not choose to wear them. The tables were spaced far enough apart. One important thing that needs to change is the menus. The regular laminated menus are still in use and did not seem to be disinfected after use. These should be electronic / QR code and at very least paper disposable. There was no hand sanitizer around. My son and i had arrived on bicycle so we didn’t carry hand sanitizer and now i am worried about having touched the menu then holding tacos.More

Great Mexican food. Recommend getting the tableside guacamole. Sour cream chicken enchiladas were good. Tortilla soup was plentiful of chicken and tortillo strips. The complimentary chips and salsa are fresh made. Nice view of the marina. Recommend

Excellent service. Very responsive wait person. Had chicken fajitas. Lots of onions, but not a lot of chicken. Rice was cold and beans barely warm. Guacamole was good. Had bread pudding for dessert. Not much flavor. Needed raisins or some other fruit to liven up....Restaurant not busy on a Wednesday night. View must be lovely during the day. Parking validated.More

Came here for dinner with a friend. I ordered a hot coffee while I was waiting for my friend to arrive as it was a cold evening.. however when the coffee arrived it was stone cold. Eventually I got the waiters attention and they said...they'd bring me a fresh one. They'd obviously microwaved the original one as their coffee is served black ie without creamer or sugar (but I'd added some myself to the original cup before discovering it was cold) but the coffee they brought me already had creamer in it. Naturally I was a little frustrated and disappointed about this. I have worked in hospitality and this is not how you should treat a paying customer, let alone in a median priced restaurant in a nice area. This wasnt some cheap run down restaurant or fast food outlet. The service here was pretty poor. There was one waitress who seemed more efficient than the waiters and she did her best to assist but the service over all was slow and pretty bad. It wasnt even busy so there really was no reason for it. Food wise I tried the bacon wrapped shrimp as a starter than I shared with my friend. It was actually pretty good although we ordered it more out of curiosity. For my main I'd ordered short rib tacos and chicken tacos although they had made a slight error on the order it was quickly rectified. They were actually really good and the ingredients tasted fresh. I'm conflicted about whether I'd go back there as the food was really good but the service especially regarding the coffee really let the side down especially with regards to trust. Had it not have been for it being quite late and there being few other dining options close by I would've been inclined to leave and go elsewhere.More
