We have visited Nicks multiple times and always had a fantastic meal and attentive service which is why we chose to have a large family dinner there for 10 people. It is did not disappoint. The service was amazing, and the food was great - it all came out at the same time which is hard to do with a large party. With so many great places to eat at in Manhattan Beach Nicks is definitely a great option - the food is delicious, especially the asparagus fries and don't miss out on the butter cake. The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant has an indoor:outdoor feel so you can feel comfortable even during Covid. Highly recommend- enjoy!

We were recommended this restaurant by a nearby shop owner who said it was amazing. We were traveling with our small dog and thought it would be a great place for dinner.
We arrived early and were told we would have to sit out side and the dog would have to be outside the railing. This is odd since most restaurants are accommodating small dogs in the outside seating areas, but their policy is pretty hostile towards dogs so we got the food to go. In fact the receptionist was borderline snotty and did little to make us feel welcomed.
Have to say the food made up for the rather frosty welcome, and both of our meals were really really good. I can see why the place is so popular, they obviously have high quality ingredients that are well prepared and deliver reasonable value.
I would definitely go back here again when in town, but I think I would leave the pooch at home so we could dine without any hassles.

Everywhere we go in Southern California, we always make a point to stop by one of the Nick’s restaurants to dine. We just had a great lunch at South of Nick’s in San Clemente last week and today we went to Nick’s in Manhattan Beach for lunch.
This location has Great foods and it’s in an awesome location. I love their sourdough loaf with Garlic. Crunch skin with soft bead inside. Fried asparagus is a must order. The batter is tasty and crispy. For the main dishes, I ordered the San Francisco cioppino while my wife had the rack of baby back ribs. The Cioppino was full of fish meats, scampi mussels and clams. The soup goes along with it was fantastic. The baby back rib was huge. My wife had half left over to take home.
This location is great as it’s just a short walk to Manhattan pier. Great day out to take a walk after lunch.

Stopped at Nick's for lunch on October 9th, 2020 at around 2:00 PM. The restaurant was virtually empty with the exception of a few diners spread widely on the patio. We were told to wait because we did not have a reservation. When we were finally seated we were told to be finished in 90 minutes and that our two small dogs could not stay under the table in the outdoor patio. I understand there are rules that have to be followed to insure all of our safety during the covid crisis but the staff was curt and outright rude. When we told them we had eaten outside before with our dogs under the table they relented and let us in. Don't ask for water for your pets because it will be abruptly refused. When we asked to see the manager he came after we had eaten and told us it was corporate policy and that whatever we had done in the past was wrong. I can go on but I want to get to the bottom line. There are other places to eat in Manhattan Beach. Right across from Nicks is a Greek restaurant and we have eaten there many times. They are dog friendly, people friendly and the food is great. This is much better bet. As for the day manager at Nicks I would say if you are not happy with your job or the company you work for explore making a change. This is what makes American great, you don't have to keep that job.

Popular New American spot with comfort food. Came here for dinner on a Monday around 6 as walk-ins and there was about a 20 minute wait. You get a text when your table is ready so you can walk around downtown Manhattan beach while waiting. Street parking. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. Credit cards are accepted. It’s a nicer restaurant but still saw plenty of families with young kids.
I would recommend that you share dishes family-style to try multiple things. The seared ahi tuna salad was super yummy (note that there are macadamia nuts). The fried chicken sandwich had a nice sauce and the bread was super soft. You have the choice of a side, and the side salad was made of kale and was hearty. The prime rib dip was decent: the au jus tasted more like a broth, but I liked the sauce on the side. Our waitress was super nice and thoughtful.

Our first dining experience at Nick’s Manhattan Beach was for a late lunch. Our server was Connor who was excellent and knowledgable of his menu. We had great cocktails to start along with bacon deviled eggs which were very tasty with the whites slightly fried creating a nice texture. The Chilean sea bass was on special and perfectly grilled. The prime rib French dip on a brioche roll was delicious and tender. The menu is diverse and will appeal to all tastes. We can’t wait to try some of their breakfast/brunch items when they bring these back.

We were in town for the Harry Styles concert and wanted to take the family for dinner somewhere nice before dropping the teens off. They were able to get us a table with a great view and in and out in less than two hours so we’d be on time. Servers were fab. Food was even better. Bistro plate with filet is great value for those who don’t want a giant plate of food - it’s more than enough! Everyone loved their food. Even our oldest daughter who is always so picky. Deserts were delicious. Wish we had one local to us! Congrats to the management and team - you guys are doing it right!

Four of us went to dinner and we were seated outside with great views of the beach. Our waiter was very attentive and in spite of being crowded our cocktails arrived quickly and were perfect. Everyone had a different meal and I enjoyed the “Duke” which is a great marinaded Hawaiian flavored ribeye. I like my meat very rare and it came to the table cooked perfectly. My wife had a filet and it was rare but very tough. She told the waiter and within a minute the manager was at the table and replaced her entire meal. Apparently while the restaurant orders Prime cuts, the supplier slips up now and then. The other two diners really enjoyed their meals as there was not a speck left on their plate. Great service and great food!

We went on New Year's Eve - was a bit of a treat. The fried asparagus was amazing! I had the buttermilk chicken which was divine. The Biscuit' was a little late coming to the table so I didn't actually get to eat it - but the food was really tasty. My daughter's vegetarian dish looked lovely too. We really didn't need to desserts but did our best with the two we choose - which were great.

First, I want to make it clear that our waiter, DAVID, is the sole reason that this review went from very good to excellent!! Yes, if you can request to sit at one of his tables...do it!!! Our table was outdoors on the side patio with outdoor heaters and a perfect view of the courtyard fireplace, which had a roaring fire going in it.
We started off with one of their house cocktails: Bees Knees and Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita. Both were very good. Kudos to the bartender. Later, with our entrees, we tried a glass from their wines by the glass (their wines by the glass menu is limited). I had the asparagus fries as an appetizer and they lived up to their designation of a house original. My entree selection was the buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a biscuit. I am a sucker for a good biscuit and this one was worth the calories. The chicken was moist and not overly breaded. I only tried a little of the mash potatoes and they were a little to creamy for me. My husband tried the baby back ribs and was trying not to lick his fingers. We had absolutely no room for Nick's much praised "Butter Cake," but promised to come back for a slice with coffee. If I lived in this part of California or within a half hour, we would be regulars at Nick's. And great parking is right there, which is a major plus.

For we locals, Nicks is one of THE best places in Manhattan Beach to eat dinner, and breakfast and lunch (breakfast is only on weekends). I live in M.B. And have tried almost all of restaurants(yes, I’m a foodie wanna be) … we do have some revolving door places that i can’t keep up with, but, our staples are Nicks, Love and Salt and Slay….Nicks is amazing food and consistent. If you crave something there it is always the same ! If you do encounter a problem Nicks is always there to make it right ! I do have ONE comment that someone mentioned a bratty kid in their review of Nicks, but, I was going to say the DOGS on patios in M.B. Are sooooo much more annoying than children. One thing I like about Nicks is they make the pet parents place the dogs on the outside of the eating area. Manhattan Beach has a problem with Pet Parents who are under the assumption their dogs are HUMAN. Dogs don’t belong on a SEAT and what happened to going out without the DOG? Sorry i love dogs but not as they’re barking at a table!

Lunch at Nick’s in Manhattan Beach was very good! We ordered the veggie burger with roasted beets and the kale with quinoa salad. The Nick’s pale ale was ok and not anything special.
The burger was very moist and tasted like meat. The roasted beets were very good as was the salad.
Definitely a good place fir lunch!

First timer solo for lunch. I sat at the bar and knew I wanted a salad. The bartender described them to me and I went with the local marker and added salmon. It took awhile to arrive. She even checked on it. But it was very good with champagne vinaigrette. It was very crowded at lunch so try to make a reservation. -15-30 minutes wait @12:30

The Adventure Buddies loves going to Nick’s to be able to sit outside and let your kids run around Metlox plaza is really nice. They have incredible food, a little $$ but still worth it to be able to relax and enjoy. We love the butter cake! Whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner Yum!

Traveling for business and looking for a delicious, relaxing dinner outside, we really lucked out. Though the menu isn't endless, it had good choices for a vegetarian and an eat anything diner. I really enjoyed the kale and quinoa salad with the thinnest sliced chicken I've ever seen. My husband finished every drop of his cioppino and really enjoyed the biggest hot fudge sundae. The children at the next table seemed to really enjoy their butter noodles and chicken fingers from the kids menu. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive. The outside seating, with heaters, was nicer than most.
