This is a fun place to have dinner with friends. Good atmosphere and plenty of space to feel that you can have a personal conversation and not feel folks on top of you. The pasta with shrimp, scallops and clams was excellent.

I stay at the towne place suites at this off airport location because the rates are good. It's a bit of a luster less neighborhood. However, the food and service at il fornaio add grace and glamour to this travel stop. It's in a funny strip mall off rosecrans near an Office Depot and a trader joes. And it is... More

This is one four neighborhood's gems. We always have a very enjoyable evening when dining here. We were seated immediately in a VERY nice location...not close to another table. We brought our own wine so didn't check out their wine list although I've heard it is excellent. We ordered two of the Caprese Traditional which was EXCELLENT! The other couple... More

The concierge of my hotel recommended this place for Italian, and that was a great suggestion. From outside the place looks a bit "boxy" but inside the decor is really nice. Great selection of wines and also nice selection of foods, I had the veal with lemon....great great great. Will be back!

Wanted to get together with friends for dinner, it also wanted to be able to chat without shouting/straining to hear - this was a great choice. We were seated away in a corner; server was very respectful and didn't needlessly interrupt yet provided attentive service. Food was wonderful - we all had salads for our main course and each one... We enjoyed an evening dinner with a business team of 11 at Il Fornaio. The service (Well done Pedro) was professional, accurate, friendly, and surprisingly speedy. To manage a group of 11 and have the food be speedy is a remarkable feat. The food quality is excellent from appetizer to dessert. Around the table surround sound applause for the quality... More

The Piatto Smeralda is comprised of a mixed grill of marinated scallops, calamari and shrimp with garlic, etc that was prepared and tasted as good as any meal I have had. The small plate of the Pennoni Alla Vodka (Large pasta tubes with bacon, vodka-cream-tomato sauce) was a bit smaller than was expected for the price.

The food is good, the staff is friendly. It's good for special evenings and celebrations. I'm pretty simple when it comes to food. I usually order pizza and appetizers. My company usually orders more traditional salad and risotto dishes.

We took international visitors here for a business dinner. They were able to accommodate a large crowd (one of several that night). There service was speedy and the food very tasty. Our waitperson provided excellent suggestions for appetizers, entree, and wine. Over all an excellent experience.

It can get a little loud on busy nights, but food is always excellent. Fireplace is great in the winter, separate rooms for groups.

Description
Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il
Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.
