SO Good! My wife and I ordered take out to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary at home. We each had the ribs with a side of broccoli. This is a pretty simple review...the food was absolutely delicious! And I don’t even enjoy ribs ordinarily otherwise....Super yummy at Houston’s. Curbside pickup was extremely timely. Highly recommend.More

I was treated so poorly by Vista Murphy that I asked to speak to her manager. Jeremy Zink appeared and supported her humiliation of my guests and me (for taking too long to finish our meals). Notably, the restaurant had many empty tables available for...others to potentially use. I felt the incident was entirely racial. The check was over $350.00, and I did not provide a tip.More

I hasn’t been in this before but the service and the food is consistently great everywhere. The service was outstanding such as the food. I noticed new items in the menu and I tried the ‘osaka style’ sushi & salad with mixed greens, avocado, mango...and tomato, it was fresh and delicious. Love this place.More

A salute from a Houston’s Hillstone Long time Evangelist (The Controversial Review) I am tremendous fan of Houston’s Manhattan Beach and almost all the Hillstone brands I have to come to know over the decades wherever I travel. Many have become friends & family to...me over the past 20 plus years. I am proud to be a Hillstone/ Houston’s customer each and every time I step foot in the door. Under the extraordinary leadership of its owner/CEO Founder George Biel Houston’s and their other branded dining concepts have become the Iconic Gold Standard brands of upscale casual dining groups in North America leading the way. If there is great dining in heaven, I only hope Hillstone is managing it. When I dine in a 5-star restaurant or another competing upscale casual I think of overall experience and food quality and execution and think did they meet the Hillstone Houston’s standards? Do I agree with everything they do in their decision-making no.But the lions share absolutely One sad thing I will agree with others that needs to come back to the menu immediately is their legendary Roasted Prime Rib on the bone. Was shocked and saddened to see it off the menu recently. The dish has become less hip and trendy sadly and many other restaurants over the years no longer offer it either or a great baked potato. Hillstone otherwise for the most part has gotten it right by buying the very best quality for the price point they sell at. And they still serve the baked potato and toppings in all its classic glory just as it should be .I know other diners are also mourning the loss of this historic menu item Over the decades I have been proud to take friends family and work colleagues from around the world to dine on near or perfection of American dining classics. The servers seem to like their jobs and care about your experience and add to the typically great dining outcome. In defense of the restaurant as a result of some of the mean unkind words or unwarranted personal attacks reviews against management here diners need to understand better by being more sympathetic better guests. The hard-working management and servers don’t make the rules up of acceptable amount of dining time @ tables or restaurant dress codes. They have been in place for decades by corporate and they simply have to enforce the corporate rules to the best of their ability. Think that’s an easy job? I know I wouldn’t want to fill their shoes in a self-entitled era with some very difficult folks/patrons. Are there policies to understand at Houston’s? I’ve learned them over the years and have grown to respect most of them but certainly not all So, what are the duh basics? Don’t hog a table during their busiest nights when they have reservations to deliver and guests waiting in line to dine.Sorry but you can’t bring your blanket and sleep at the table because you spent 300 dollars for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night with your date or family and expect to own the table for the night. If you order one of their delicious steaks order medium you can always send it back for more fire if need be(they almost always recover brilliantly however if you order medium well and or well then there may be a problem due to their company policy. Don’t order medium well /well simple! Or order something else if to challenging traumatic. The no hats policy isn’t racist nor is it discriminatory any more than no Speedos, shirtless patrons or tank tops etc. It’s about creating a place where all guests feel comfortable while keeping it classy LA . Yes, I know some others will think differently perhaps showing up in their pajamas or sweaty after jogging and taking no on a personal level. That's just plain sad for all. They are in the business of pleasing and it shows. Its only gotten tougher in the all about me social media era. Today the best brick and mortar restaurants deserve your support, cooperation and respect due to the terribly challenging times we live in. Many establishments are painfully closing left and right including the wildly successful Gulfstream in Century City As leases expire with greedy landlords doubling or tripling the monthly rents its forcing some of the best to close. In my entire life I’ve never seen so many restaurants including successful units close as fixed costs like labor, energy food costs, rent skyrocket. It’s not easy to work in the restaurant industry these folks work long hard hours weekends and holidays trying to please as many folks as possible. Please be kind and respectful so that the team can do their job by not having a personal melt downs when a policy has to be enforced. Most or all these policies they personally had nothing to do with. In other words please kindly cut them some slack! They are just the messenger not the evil forces out to get to you Without those policies we might have an out of business unit in its place or an undesirable establishment instead. Think about your favorite restaurant or department store now gone or closing due to Amazon or the challenging times we live in. Let’s celebrate greatness and be supportive and offer otherwise great food and hospitality. Houston’s has been part of the Manhattan Beach culture and has been there since the 90s because at the end of the day they do what they do well or in my opinion brilliantly over most of the others who have long come and gone. I only hope they continue to do it well for another 3 decades plus. A shout out to the long time team Tom,Vista Murphy & Kristen as well as past GM Jeremy for making Houston’s one of the very best in America in my top 5. May that never change Unfortunately for me I live in San Diego so have to fly or drive to LA to enjoy great food and hospitality I’m booked 3 days in a row there next week and can’t wait to return jealous of those that have this restaurant right in their neighborhood! (Best Kept insider secret) you can order the salmon wood fired grilled (not shown on menu) the finest tasting salmon I’ve ever had in my life. Ask your sever and request the chefs dressing on the side (fattening) but(complimentary) Bon Appetit Magazine once famously stated all to well Houstons/Hillstone "It’s never going to win a James Beard Award. Or try to wow you with its foam experiments or ingredients you’ve never heard of. But it is the best-run, most-loved, relentlessly respected restaurant in America. And, oh yeah, Danny Meyer, David Chang, and Shaq all agree.More

This is truly one of my favorite restaurants. The Salmon is the very best I have tasted and I need it cooked a special way and they never disappoint. They now take reservations and since it is very popular you might have a wait. There...is also a bar with TVs where the wait time is much shorter. All the service people are friendly and efficient. I will definitely be back again and again.More

Went in for a small celebration with a group of friends. The staff was nice and friendly. I ordered the ribs which are some of the best I have ever had. They fall off the bone you can use a knife and fork and get...all the meat off the bone. Only bad part is they don’t have soda on tap they bring you small bottles and they are very expensive. Will be back but will only order water.More

After several years I came again to this restaurant and had a very tasty, great filet mignon, well done. Year after year I saw substantial modification to the menu, that used to be with more steaks and dishes. However whatever is still in the menu...has the good quality as always.More

I hadn't visited this location in a couple of years. Although the dress code appears to have deteriorated, the service, food and atmosphere have not. The Friday evening rush I had previously experience did not materialize. Our server was attentive and excellent. The food was...hot, tasty and served promptly. I will definitely place Houston's back in my regular dining rotation.More

I'd give zero stars if it were possible. After travelling for nearly a month I met my friend at Houstons Manhattan Beach. We sat at a bar side table and it was unusually not busy for early Friday evening. We ordered the most expensive glasses...of wine and entres and we were having a nice time catching up. After approx 1.5 hours and $160 the manager interrupted us to tell us that we needed wrap things up as there is a time limit on their tables even in the bar. We wanted to order another glass of wine and dessert and our request was denied. She was so inconceivably rude. As two women in our 50s, for the first time in our lives we were being thrown out of a restaurant not because we didn't order enough or that we were intoxicated- no it was because the manager determined it was time for us to leave. Ms Murphy ruined our evening and wasted our money. She made it clear you order right away (they will circle back every 3 min), you eat right away (you will be offered dessert well before you finish your entree) and you must leave right. DO NOT GO there if you plan to enjoy your meal and wine or if you have an aversion to being publically humiliated.More
