We had an inside table but were still able to partake of the sunset over the sea as we ate. The food was excellent with the Thai Shrimp being simply delicious. There is an outside section with DJ music on the weekends but we were happier inside. Very good and attentive service.

I have been coming here occasionally for decades, as they offer the closest ocean view of any restaurant I know. The waves literally crash right below you as you dine. We came for brunch. The Kobe burger with carmelized onions was very tasty, and the barbequed octopus was delicious, but the pear salad tasted of fish, The service was okay,... More

We only visited this restaurant as it was a short walk from the holiday home we rented. Excellent food, service and atmosphere with stunning views. I would be prepared to travel far to come back here again.

View. View. View. It's simply the iconic view of the Pacific Ocean. You can travel the world. You can see beautiful places. But it's hard or impossible to top this. Especially without leaving Los Angeles. The food? It's good. Inventive ? No. Masterful? No. But good. Well prepared. Simple. Fresh. And frankly you don't want more. You just want a... More

For dinner I had a wonderful chiapino and for lunch I had a tuna steak sandwich. Both were excellent. Of course, the crashing waves may have had a effect on the food. This is a good restaurant for both locals and visitors.

We celebrated my son's MBA degree in this beautiful restaurant. The food choices were varied. Everyone from the foodies on the group to the two year olds found something to make them happy. The salmon in particular was amazing. The wine list is fairly robust- try the Viogner- it was a favorite of the group. The atmosphere cannot be beat.... More

We have been to Moonshadows for brunch at least 50 times (if not more) over the last 16 years. Not only is their brunch food excellent, they have the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had. Ironically, we have never thought of going there for dinner...until this weekend. While not as perfect as their brunch, our dinner experience was wonderful.... More

The dinner was so close to a great experience. The view was magnificent, the food was great, the beer was perfect. But by the end, we did not get approached to have dessert and had to flag the manager down to get our waiter and get our check. By the end, we were just ready to leave. Extra disappointing since... OK food, nothing to write home about. As locals we almost never go. It is mostly a bar scene with the Blu lounge. Food is maybe a bit better than Dukes, but not really memorable.

Staying in Malibu

Neighborhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
