This place has been here for decades and it is better than ever. Recent new owners have added new items to the menu while keeping all the popular meals that have been a mainstay of this historic place. They take debit cards now! Make are...to leave room for the traditional ice cream cup dessert.More

We had not went for about a year and we just went today. What disappointments we had! Soup, beans, salad, french fries, and lamb stew were not same as before! Terrible! I will not go back again!!!!

It takes about 50 minutes to drive here so we really wanted good lamb. Well, they were out of lamb chops. The lamb stew was good. The prime rib was raw still. Still cold, sent back and was ok 2nd time around. Wine is the...same! Good!! The place was busy so the wait was understandable.More

Visited with forty friends after playing go Ln f in Monterey. Service was fast and efficient. Food was plentiful and tasty. Special requests were fulfilled almost instantly. Don't expect fancy surroundings, this is family style at long benches. Fun place.

Folks, let's get real about Wool Growers. This is a $25 price-fixed menu in Los Banos, CA. Los Banos is not the hot bead of culinary delights. Decent food, but not GREAT food. The fixins' are meant to fuel a large-framed farmer's body after a...long day of work, or one who just wants to build a large-framed body. You are served bread, salad, potato salad, beans, soup, lamb stew and your choice of meat as an entre (tri tip, prime rib, NY steak, etc). It. Is. A. Lot. Of. Food. The meat served as your entre is nowhere near "prime" grade, so be prepared to chew, chew, chew. The cold red wine tastes better after the third glass, and it is definitely better than the tap water served to the table. Your meal is topped off with a cup of artificially flavored vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient, but she had a horrible cough that made me wonder how many germs she was spreading to our food. This is a once-per year, duck-season visit for me, but I would not recommend driving out of your way for this dining experience.More

This was a repeat visit for us, and it was mostly good. Food and service were outstanding, but it was a noise environment and difficult for several in our party to hear the conversation. Maybe it had something to do with the remodeling that’s going...on? As others have mentioned, the food is ample and your server will provide take-home containers for a lunch or even another dinner.More
