This restaurant is an upscale sushi and robata restaurant with exquisite food and an even better atmosphere as its sits 21 floors up above the skyline of downtown LA. I have visited this spot a few times and while we have tried many things, the sushi is by far the best part of the experience. The Robata is great but... More

Last night was my 2nd trip to Takami. Took my cousins who are honeymooning from the Philippines to celebrate their new union w/ my husband and cousins. It was a great time... I'd like to say that Takami has yes, awesome views of DTLA, awesome food, awesome ambiance, awesome location but what topped it all was our waitress Anna. Long... More

To have open windows (and heated seating areas) on the 21st floor in downtown LA was unique. The small plates were very small but also very good. If you ordered chicken, you received one skewer. The prices were on the high side.

The restaurant was wonderful. Sushi selection was excellent. Atmosphere offers one of a kind views of the LA skyline.

On the 21st floor, my colleague and I weren't sure how it would be. It had been a long day and the restaurant was just blocks from our hotel. Got off the elevator and through the bar area. Four attractive women in the mid-20's checked out we two old guts (60ish). Chose to sit "outside", as it was in the... More

Located on the 21st floor, you get a nice view of the city. Food was fine, a lot of choices. Especially enjoyed the 21st sushi roll.

Servers often deliver to the wrong tables. Mediocre taste, over priced, over hyped. I made a terrible choice of going to this place for our anniversary dinner. The city view is blocked by taller buildings and the skyline window had the blinds down at night time; staff was unwilling to bring them up to enjoy a better view of Los... More

Sushi= A+. Robata= A+. Drinks= A+. Even the atmosphere was great! We got to sit outside, and there were heaters on the wall to keep out the chill. The entire evening was a lovely experience. Great waitstaff !!!

First time for us sampling sushi in LA, so not sure where to start. This yelp recommended spot seemed like a good choice so we took the elevator up to this restaurant on the top floor. Great view from the patio, not surprisingly. The decor is warm but hip, lots of dark wood. We were waiting to be impressed. It... More

My wife and I recently traveled to California and I decided to take her out to 2 Anniversary Dinners. We had decided on the Yamashiro Sushi place but unfortunately it closed so I went scrambling to find another sushi restaurant and was recommended this one. It did not disappoint. The views from the 21st floor were amazing and the food... More

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
