What a real find! We only ordered takeout of their XLNT pretzel shapes and when we got home, wow! were we happy pretzel eaters. The cafe looks really cool to sit and eat so next time we will stay a while. Their various breads are way too delicious. XLNT bakery to buy your favourite breads. For dessert, a short walk... More

Order Americano and got like one shot espresso and lots and lots of water so it got as week as coffee in any American diner. When I asked for a double espresso with water on the side it just turned into a struggle. Avocado toast excellent but I will not drink coffee here again.

Four of us went for brunch. Everybody ordered something different and everything was outstanding, with the burgers topping the list. The venue is quite small so expect to wait a while for a table. Service was super friendly - california-style. Please go!

Whenever I am in Venice, which is often, I have to stop by this special bakery. Yes, the pretzel variations are amazing, but the ginger scone is the best as well. You can't go wrong here.

On the last day of our honeymoon we decided to skulk about Abbott Kinney. After reading about the snobbery of some of the more well known establishments on the street, we saw Rockwenwagner 3 square's inviting veranda and took a chance. Our waiter was extremely friendly and genuine (not just chasing a tip). I saw Bundaberg ginger beer at one... More

Very nice café! Friendly staff and great food! Fries were to die for and sandwiches were awesome! Be sure to stop by their bakery next door! Great baguette!

The breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich are excellent. The rustic plum tart is a must. The food promptly and our waiter was friendly.

In an episode 7 of Season 3 of my favourite show - 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', as he pets Jeff's German Shepherd dog 'Oscar', Larry David remarks that "Its nice to be affectionate to something German - you don't get the opportunity that often". This pretty much sums up how I feel about Rockenwagner 3 Squares Cafe in L.A. I was... More

Came for the Pretzel burger and avocado fries which seems to be the well known things to try here. Both were good and well worth trying. The pretzel bun is different and makes it unique to other burgers around - the meat and filling isn't especially better, but at least people are thinking of ideas. The menu is otherwise full... This is hands-down the best place on Abbott Kinney --- or Venice for that matter. It is the perfect neighborhood place with the kind of satisfying and delicious food that makes you HAPPY in a warm setting that is 100% California. And the bakery next door -- fuggeddaboutit -- the pretzel Mecca (who knew I was deprived of pretzel croissants... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
