If you have one burrito in LA the Chili Relleno burrito at La Azteca is the one to get. The flour tortillas are perfection — flaky, thin, delicious. When we first went we mixed it up and got a carne asada, bean and cheese and...then two chili relleno burrito. The other two were great, but the chili relleno was out of this world. It’s hard to describe its awesomeness but it’s layers of poblano chili, cheese and I believe merengue layered over the chili. This place is consistently ranked as having some of the best burritos/tortillas in the country and I can see why. Go there!More

Ordered a burrito by local's recommendation and wasn't disappointed. The food was tasty, the place seems to be very popular by locals so if you're in the area it worth a try.

I just had a very bad experience here and wanted to share it. I tried ordering some food but the young man taking my order asked me repeatedly to speak up because he couldn't here me. The reason was because the music playing behind him...in the kitchen was too loud. I told him they needed to turn down the music and the manager named Steven told me to speak louder. I confronted him on it and he denied it. The food may be good but they obviously don't know how to treat their customers. This is a horrible way to run a restaurant. That's a shame.More

Famous in this area for its burritos. Tried it like a local and loved it. Expect to wait as there’s usually queue.

Stopped in right after hopping off the plane. Came here due to the high ratings on Yelp. This restaurant is located in East LA and side street parking. When we initially walked in, we were greeted and able to order immediately. We both got the...chorizo and eggs with potatoes and cheese added on. The wait time is roughly 20-40 minutes depending on previous orders. Thankfully, there were only 2 other folks ahead of us. I would suggest calling in your order. There are only a few seats and bar seats available. The breakfast burrito is large and tasty. Nothing out of the ordinary but it looks like they're known for their Chile Rellano Burrito. Hopefully we'll be able to swing by before leaving to try a 'lunch' burrito.More

If a business has been around for decades and continues to be successful you know they are doing something right. I came back with my friend and we ordered the Chili Relleno carne asada burrito it was deliciously flavored as always. I always judge a...burrito by the quality of their flour tortilla and of course theirs are perfectly fresh and soft.More

Enough people have come here and praised the food and its been lauded by countless articles and food critics so I won't rehash what most of the reviews have already stated. The food is amazing. If you're unsure what to get, the chile relleno burrito...is what they're famous for. I usually get the carne asada chile relleno burrito. Here are some things to know that will improve your experience with the place: You have to give yourself a lot of time with this restaurant. I've ordered one burrito to go at around 2pm and it took 20mins. I'm totally fine with that because they do have a sign saying that wait times during busy hours can be up to 20 to 30mins I believe. I wouldn't recommend going here with a large order and expect to get in and out in less than 40mins. I placed an order at 6.10am (I was the 2nd person to order after they opened) for burritos to go and got my food at 6.45. Luckily I had given myself enough time to come here, wait for the food and still get to work with just a few mins to spare. Check your order! I ordered 9 burritos which they placed in a metal tin tray and covered with foil. As I was in a rush, I just trusted that they got my order correct... turns out they only put 8 burritos. I even saw someone checking the tray and looking at the order sheet before they gave it to me so how they missed one is beyond me. I know someone is already thinking, "Why didn't you place your large order the day before?". Good point, but even then it's not a guarantee. Two people had done that but it turns out that the restaurant never fulfilled their orders and they had to place it again. Not saying this happens all the time but just something to consider and prepare for if you do place a phone order the day before. Another visit, I had tried to place a phone order at around 11am and could not get through. Upon getting to the restaurant, I discover that they had the phone off the hook. I'm guessing this is because they are just too busy to take both phone orders and orders from people in line. Not complaining but this is what they do sometimes so just expect that. Overall, the food is too amazing that I'll deal with with all that. It's so worth it.More

OK, I had been waiting to try this for a long time. I'm a gringo who loves burritos. I read all the hype and had to try their famous (rated #1) chile relleno asada burrito. I called ahead (as recommended) and drove 25 minutes to...the famed locale. When I arrived, I paid and was then told to wait (another 25 minutes). My food arrived and I left the premises to discover my $6.00 tub of hot sauce was missing. I returned and they quickly added this to my order. I excitedly bit into the famous burrito and then again, and again. It was okay, the tortilla was definitely top notch. Hot sauce average. I have had many better burritos. I ordered 2 additional ones and will see how they are after being reheated later. But, alas...I will not make that trek again. Over-Rated.More
