I had the bangers and mash. The sausage was good but the potatoes tasted slightly burned. My wife liked her corned beef and cabbage. I also had a bowl of the New England clan chowder that was good. Service was friendly. If we are back in the area we will likely eat here again.

Go here on a Friday evening, and listen - or join in with - an excellent piano man. There is also frequent Irish merriment. The late Glenn Cornick used to play here fairly frequently....GREAT place

Great Father’s Day at the Whale & Ale in San Pedro, as they are giving a Whale & Ale silk-screened beer glass to every Dad who came in today; We discovered this by accident by accident as we were in the neighborhood and wanted a good pint of Guinness. Tip: If you like British stuff log on to their web... More

Having arrived to go on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera we remembered this place from a year ago and remembered how good it was. Well they did not disappoint. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the portobello mushroom burger. Both were just wonderful. This place always exceeds in service and wonderful food.

British pub in downtown San Pedro, CA. It's Saturday, March 11. Guinness beer night and Beatles tribute band, the Backbeats, playing live all evening, with a small cover charge. Great food , great music, great crowd, great atmosphere.

We were charmed by the decor, the menu, the server and particularly by the piano player. Traditional English pub fare with reasonable choices and wide selection of beers. It is only a couple of blocks walk from the Crowne Plaza where we stayed the night before our cruise. The piano player had a wonderful set list. Upon tipping him, he... More

I love restaurants that make you feel as if you've escaped to a foreign country. Eating at the Whale and Ale always feels like a getaway to England, even though the restaurant is just a few miles from my home in San Pedro. I enjoy the cozy, quaint atmosphere, especially the oak furniture and the large fireplace with its oak... More

Location: Not bad. Near the port. Parking sucks, but thats the area for you. Food: Very good. Best fish and chips I've had. The sheppard's pie was really good as well. Portions were decent for lunch. Prices are a bit higher than I would have expected. However it is usual for that area to be more expensive. Service: Pretty friendly.... More

My wife and I loved this place. We found it accidentally, but were not disappointed. We were just walking through Downtown San Pedro, got hungry, and decided on this place. From the outside, it was hard to tell what it was like on the inside, but we went in anyway, and found a really cute place. They really take the... More

Walked in by myself on a Thursday evening. Several diners but many open tables. Host said they had "lots of reservations" but could sit me at the bar. Walked to the empty bar...not even a bartender. The hard wooden bar stools were really not going to work for me, so I started to walk out. As I got close to... More
