Pricey, but good for business dinner

After staying here and being disappointed with slow breakfast service, decided to check out the dinner. Small but delicious menu and better service, not too busy, quiet is good for business talk. Expensive sodas and coffee really need to be fixed. Even legitimate 5 start restaurants don't charge that much. Overall very good for dinner.

I've eaten here many times while staying in the hotel. Breakfast is classy but not inexpensive. Dinner is delicous. Chef was willing to make special things for me as I am a vegitarian. Warm and professional service. Nice way to end the day.

Considering that this is a rather small hotel, the dining room and breakfasts were exemplary. Service was attentive, and the quality of the food was top-rate. Requests for substitutions or special preparations were always accommodated.

I always enjoy Checkers! In DTLA and feeling of quality yesterday. Start in the lounge for a refreshing cocktail. They always do a great Bourbon based Old Fashioned. When in the restaurant, I always start off with MacCheese or the guacamole and the quesadilla. Check for the specials, I have never been disappointed. My favorite standards are the scallops, the... I've always loved this old hotel, which is well maintained by the present owners. Breakfast is a civilized affair. Excellent eggs benedict, quiet soft tones in the room, general atmosphere of well-being. Always a good choice.

Checkers was lovely. I stayed for two nights and was delighted. Beautiful common areas, marble and fresh flowers, immaculately clean. The room was wonderful, with substantial dark wood furnishings, peach marble bathroom, excellent shower. Room fridge was too tiny and not enough room for my water and diabetic supplies. I've stayed there twice and would certainly stay there again.

We had breakfast and it was excellent. The beverages were a little pricey at 4.50 for a cup of coffee but the service was exceptional.

Quick breakfast to get the day going. Nice warm and fresh egg white omplette and the coffee was great.

Excellent dinner and breakfast. Limited menu, but everything my party tried was good. Especially liked the egg substitute wrap for breakfast with fresh fruit. Coffee at $4.50 a cup is a bit steep if you are not on an expense account.

The lobby bar is a great place to meet and relax. I haven't found such a place in a long, long time. Nicely lite with a great cosy atmosphere. The staff are great as are the drinks and eats - and all at a great price. Take the seats on your front right as soon as you enter the bar,... More

Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
