This place totally reminds me of the Mexican restaurant in Denver (Senor Pepe's) that my family always went to back in the 1970s when I was a kid. Time has hardly touched El Coyote, except for the fact that they actually have tamales without meat (green corn tamales), which are hard to find even today. Retro Mexican food is the... More

If you're seeking great authentic Mexican food with a hometown fieel "El Coyote" is the place to go. A very courteous staff and did I not mention the thirst quenching Magaritas!

Authentic Mexican place to eat with a great ambiance and very friendly staff. Worth a visit if you are around. Valet parking for a couple of bucks.

This restaurant has been operating in LA since 1931. The food is good traditional Mexican that is reasonably priced. The decor is kitschy and quirky Mexican and has changed little in twenty five years. The service is good. The Margaritas from scratch are excellent.

This style of Mexican restaurant has mostly disappeared in LA in favor of more groovy names and exotic styles. This place screams "comfort food" and it is available in every line item on the menu. Everything is good and made to order. The guacamole is fresh and well spiced, and the margaritas are great. You see date nights, families, children's... More

El Coyote was a restaurant we wanted to stop at while passing through LA from Northern California (Bakersfield to OC) and it was absolutely worth the drive in to LA! El Coyote's staff is extremely friendly and everything about the restaurant feels very authentic and very well thought out and put together. It absolutely feels like lots of love and... More

I've been going to El Coyote for years. The ambience is a lot of fun with waitresses in their ruffled skirts and Mexican decor throughout. The truth is that most of the food is average, but if you want something fantastic order Green Corn Tamales, Beans with EXTRA cheese, guacamole and corn tortillas. Butter tortilla and hold in your hand... More

I've been to the El Coyote Mexican restaurant several times - basically every time I get to visit Los Angeles. I first heard of the El Coyote when reading Vincent Bugliosi's "Helter Skelter" book about the Tate-Labianca murders by the Manson group. Apparently this is the restaurant where Shaton Tate, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring and Voytek Frikowski had their last... More

We go there at least once a month with my family and friends. I love the steak fajitas, the service is good and the food is always consistent. Very reasonable prices.

A great option for Mexican in LA! I am from San Antonio, so am always a little more picky when reviewing a Mexican restaurant, but El Coyote did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great and authentic and the food was well priced and so good! They give you two types of hot sauce (don't bother with the liquid one, the... More
