Fun place and great food

I went there with a group of six. The margaritas were great and all of our appetizers and dinners were delicious. Arturo was alot of fun, joking with us. I had never been in LA before and my cousins recommended it. I would go back if I get to Hollywood again!

Great Mexican food restaurant in Los Angeles. This is our new go to Mexican restaurant. We used to go to Guelaguetza on Olympic but tried this place since we usually stay in West LA. We loved the food and the service was awesome. The drinks were good, especially the margaritas. Food was authentic and delicious. I had the Camarones al... More

We stopped for a really late lunch and so seating was not a problem. Even at that time, it was pretty well occupied. That says something. It is a great location of course. Unlike the walls in the hole tasty Mexican places I like to frequent in San Diego, this one is nicely decorated and a pretty place to go... More

I don't even know what to type here because it won't do it justice. The drinks are on fire, the service is fantastic and, the food is delicious. This is our favourite place to eat. My husband ate here on a previous trip (5 months prior) and he couldn't wait to return. It was well worth the drive from Anaheim!... More

Great food - you can't go wrong here with anything on the menu but the real draw here is the FLAMING Margarita! YES the margaritas are on fire really AND really strong strong strong - do not drive if you drink more than one or stay and eat more guacamole till you sober up. Lovely wait staff very friendly and... More

This is the original El Compadre, good food and parking in the back. I love the nacho supreme, but just about anything you decide on is great. The carnitas are worth your try also.

We were wanting good Mexican for a quick lunch and this fit the bill. My fish tacos were tasty and filling, my bro's chile verde was pronounced "real good" (he doesn't offer that too often!). If you're in the area, check it out

Been coming here since I moved to the area in 2009, this is what I consider quintessential Mexican hospitality, which is to say: warm, friendly, efficient and of course delicious food! Great neighborhood spot, or stop in on your visit to Los Angeles! You'll feel like a local no matter where you're from. Their mole is some of the best I've had,... More

Lots of food for the money. Great band most nights. Make reservations. Don't be fooled by the location or the appearance from Sunset Blvd. Really good food and fun.

This is by far the best Mexican food and I have eaten at plenty of places. I live in S. OC and make it a point to eat at El Compadre when traveling to the LA area. The pricing is great and you get a lot of food for the $. The only negative is that they get so busy... More

Neighborhood Profile
Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
