We visited for a late lunch after having spent some time on the beach on a Saturday. Service was attentive and efficient, food of good quality and freshly prepared. There was a vibrant, mixed crowd of patrons having food at the tables or drinks at the bar. When some of them (rather drunk) got noisy and unruly, they were immediately... More

Four of my friends joined me at this Venice restaurant for dinner. The food was superb and the prices were very reasonable. They have specials like whiskey and fried chicken night. I have been to this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed its menu. It's a fun place to meet friends or have a romantic dinner. The desserts are... More

Found this place on Lonely Planet, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, patrons and staff, as it's just around the corner from Venice Beach, with all its interesting characters! James' Beach is mid-priced, and the food was fabulous. Try the Mahi Mahi tacos or the fillet mignon sliders. Their vodka, cucumber, mint and lime cocktail was super... More

They have a small bar and restaurant in the Tom Bradley International terminal at LAX and I stopped in for a sandwich to take on a long flight and they didn't disappoint. I ordered the salmon sandwich and I have to say that it was possibly the best I've ever had. The salmon itself was about an inch and a... More

We had the famous I love you man fish tacos, and ceviche. Also the cider was excellent. We were served by an argentine waiter, who was extremely friendly. One thing I would improve, the toilets, were subpar. Warning: you have to make your own tacos, which I totally loved. The price was a bit high, but it's a one time... More

We are from Albuquerque, so it was great to have a change of venue to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was fun & eclectic. The food was creative and scrumptious (beet salad, fish tacos, half chicken)---wish we had left room for a birthday dessert. Excellent service & wine menu. The wine choices were a little expensive, but were all very... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
