This is my go to place for special occasion dinners and lunches. Tucked away in the hills above Malibu (or over the hills from Woodland Hills), this place feels like a world apart. The outdoor dining area is nestled alongside a creek and has an incredibly peaceful feel to it. The food and service are even better than the atmosphere.... More

We loved this place. It's like being in a fairy tale -- lovely outdoor setting, soft lights, cool bookshop next door, fantastic food, very good service. An absolute MUST for anyone visiting or living in the Los Angeles area.

A friend took me to this restaurant, even though it had been many years since she had been there. I was delighted with the setting in a canyon between the Pacific Coast and the San Fernando Valley. Most of the seating was outdoors, but available heat lamps would have accommodate cooler temperatures. There were twinkling lights all around and lush... More

We hadn't been here in years....that's a mistake as it's still quite good. Came for dinner last weekend and We are so coming back soon. Think it'll become our go-to since it's nearby. Still healthy. Still foodie. Still eclectic. Still Topanga. Set in the woods and maybe the coolest setting of any restaurant. The food ranges from veggies to short... More

It took forever to get seated and not because there were no tables. I think the hostess was also a waitress. While we were waiting in the entrance a couple of mice zipped by (this is outdoors so probably little can be done). Our waiter appeared twice and then we had to ask another waiter for our check, etc. The... More

On a Thanksgiving visit to L.A., our daughters recommended that we all go to Inn of the Seventh Ray for Thanksgiving dinner. What reservations I had about New Age-y overtones quickly dissipated. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and lighted, the staff was exceptionally attentive and responsive, and the food excellently prepared and presented. There are non-vegan and vegan options, so... More

We were there for a wedding in the winter. For some reason it was outdoors and being up in the mountains at night it was pretty cold. The heat lamps did nothing and kept getting knocked over by people & would go out & not work anymore. The setting was beautiful. Unfortunately the only place for the wedding guests to... More

we had amazing food. the location was like a fairyland set in the woods. tiny twinkling lights loved the gnocchi with mushroom sauce, the skirt steak and crispy duck. great vege options. we phoned ahead and they said we could bring the dog. we were given a lovely table off on a landing on its own, and had a wonderful... It's a bit out of the way, but worth it. The entire seating area is outside, but undercover. It was cool, so they had several heaters available. When there's more rain in CA, I would expect the "creek" would be flowing, but when we were there it was dry. You still have a feeling of being in a place away... More
