We were recommended this restaurant by somebody who lives in LA so we thought, why not! Our booking was for 7.45pm on a tuesday night so we thought it wouldnt be too busy, how wrong we were!! We booked in and were told to go and wait at the bar 'if we could find it'. Never a truer word said.... More

Historical and almost iconic. Huge portions of standard red sauce dishes--and all are quite good. Well dressed and experienced wait staff. Crowded and tables are close together--yes call for reservations as it gets busy. Ecelectic clientele---roadies & partiers from next door, business executives, tourists and the usual hollywood wannabes, has beens and never weres. Yes yes yes...the whole old school... More

I wanted to try this place for the history alone. When we walked in and I saw them making Caesar salad dressing at the table I had to try one. My wife and I had the best salad and almost went back the next night to have it again. I have not seen this done at the table in years... More

Celebrated my birthday dinner here. First time visiting and we were in LA traveling from DC. Best Italian food we've had in Los Angeles! Loved the ambience too! I will say it did take a while to get a table even with the reservation but that's expected here since it was a Saturday night and extremely busy. But we enjoyed... More

Had reservations about a month in advance (you have to call, no open table) and was a bit disappointed. Very small restaurant and the food was so-so. Tables were very small and I have long legs so they were uncomfortable. The maitre d wasn't especially rude, but he wasn't very welcoming. We arrived for our reservation a few minutes early... More

We visited on a whim after reviews from a local. It was a weeknight and we were seated pretty much straight away. The waiter was abrupt and asked to see I.D as soon as I sat down. I didn't mind as I've been the legal drinking age for some time, however he flicked the menus at us and walked off... More

This old, well-known restaurant offers great food and ambience but also provides a wonderful site for spotting celebrities (I've seen celebrities nearly every time I've eaten here). For that reason, I like to bring visiting friends and relatives out to Dan Tana's. The red leather booths call up an earlier era (as well as the cover photo of the Art... More

Smaller restaurant with old Italian feel. Staff was excellent, food was wonderful and flavourful. You have to try the fried cheese.

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
