My husband I have eaten at Pinto Grill before theater numerous times over the last 15 years and have always enjoyed our experience; however, that all changed last night. we arrived at 6:45 and were told that we probably couldn't get a table because they have reduced the number of tables and that we should consider eating elsewhere such as... I've dined at Pinot Grill at least 10 times, usually pre-concert/ pre-opera/ pre-show. The setting is pleasant. Service can be spotty, we always tell our server when we sit down why we are there and the time of the curtain - we have never had a problem. Lines can be long so make sure you plan enough time. The food... More

The bartenders here know how to make a great martini and Bloody Mary! Never tried the food, but would like to some time. Great pre-concert stop.

Whether you are going to a concert, theater or in the neighborhood. This is a delightful outdoor restaurant on the more upscale type with cloth covered tables and cloth napkins. There is also a bar area if you need to wait for friends or even have a meal. This restaurant is between the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Mark... More

Hey - they even have water now - for years your only option was bottled water as they said they were not hooked up to to a real utility line. They usually have some fun themed drinks based on the show playing. We like the cheese plate and seasonal ravioli for a light pre-show snack.

The Pinot Grill is the best place to dine when you're in downtown LA for a theater performance on a Sunday because it's hard to find a nearby restaurant serving dinner on Sunday. The Pinot is an open air restaurant in the middle of a courtyard near several theaters. The food is good if somewhat pricey. The Caesar salad is... More

Get the soup, get the Caesar, but frankly, this has to be one of the best cheeseburgers to be found. Cooked on a real grill. Fantastic service, great wine list, and a menu with many choices. You're sitting on the patio between the Mark Taper and the Dorthy Chandler, and a on a night with awesome Los Angeles weather, it... More

We ate here before attending a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Great setting in a nearby courtyard. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were yummy too.

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
