The food is superb. I have visited this place three times. Today for breakfast I was again wowed by new flavours perfectly paired and cooked to perfection. The only let down was the delivery. My waiter indifferent at best. Mandatory 20% tip paid. I'll consider 10% of it a donation. The Tasting Kitchen the Night before would rival the food.... More

We went here on the recommendation from a friend that it was one of "the" places to go. The front room has the music playing at an incredibly high volume and it was very dark. We were seated in a room off the patio. If you are going, ask to sit on the patio. It is charming. We ate family... More

Gjelina is a scene but, my of my, what a worthy scene. Set your clock, mark your calendar, tie a bow around your finger but make a reservation. The place is excellent and highlights Venice and the Abbot Kinney scene. The food and service are excellent and although you might leave poorer, you will leave happy. I love this place.

Our first time back to Gjelina since last summer and they continue to evolve the menu with new takes of gastronomic excellence. We sat on the back patio and enjoyed a relaxing breakfast. My wife couldn't stop talking about her fresh blueberry pancakes as I savored the chef's choice... baby kale, wild rice, white beans with soft egg. Brilliant!

Gjelina was a delight to eat at. Has a very upbeat and eclectic atmosphere. The service was wonderful from the hostess, to the waiters, to the busboys. We really enjoyed eating here more like a tapas bar. We ordered many different dishes to try all the great food. Definitely worth a visit. A reservation a must!

We ate lunch and sat outside in the garden area. Food and setting was wonderful.. Oysters on the 1/2 she'll, kale salad, pasta, sandwiches along with a rose wine and beer. All was fresh and prepared just right! Can't miss with this restaurant for brunch, lunch or dinner .

I've eaten at Gjelina many, many times during my visits to Venice, around three times a year for the last several. It's simply on another level from most restaurants. The menu is familiar yet everything has a twist or a turn that makes it outstanding. Just try the Kale salad and marvel. Yellowtail? Sublime. Lamb sausage pizza? Delicious beyond reason.... More

After a afternoon strolling Venice Beach we drove over to the cool neighborhood of Abbot Kinney and luckily we could get ourselves a table at Gjelina. This was a happening restaurant with a great space. Staff were friendly and the place had a great vibe. There were so many amazing things on the menu and it was hard to choose... More

We took our family here for breakfast.... And I was so happy. My husband is a, "Give me a breakfast burrito and I'm good." Kind of guy :) and I have a 16 (vegan) and 4 year old too... What a great breakfast! Our service was pleasant and quick, and our food was so beautiful and flavorful. We wanted a... More

Excellent restaurant. Delicious food served with a huge choice of wines (french, italian, californian...). Gjelina is full all the time, make a reservation!

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
