My wife and I were in LA for a long weekend and we would have happily eaten here every meal. We went for breakfast and dinner twice. The food is absolutely wonderful - fresh, exciting and delicious. I love how they have a mandatory 20% service charge written on their menu and on the bill so we know what is... More

Almost impossible to snag a reservation unless you want to eat at 5:30 pm or 10:30 pm. We were fortunate to get and 8:30 pm on a Saturday - actually ended up being 8:50 pm with the slight delay. The place has a great eclectic vibe. Most of the seats are at communal tables but not to worry...it works and... More

The restaurant was very dark which made it very hard to read the menu. I had a beet side dish and parsnip soup which were both very good. My fellow diners had pizza, pasta, and charcuterie. They seemed to enjoy their meals. It was hard to carry on a conversation with my table mates as the acoustics were poor. The... More

I have been here twice while visiting friends in West LA. The place is relentlessly hip and the food is outstanding. They are known for their interpretation of fresh organic produce and you will see on the menu vegetables that you've probably never heard of. Also the pizzas are crisp, wood fired and delicious. I can't wait till I return... More

First of all it was freezing inside, even the host was wearing a warm coat. The food was too expensive for both quality and quantity. We asked for toast, then asked again, and again, and when it finally arrived ( scrambled egg cold by then) it was burnt.. The waitress was very aloof, didn't smile once. Wouldn't go back.

We went here for breakfast. Very friendly and good service, real fresh food, as well the bread as the eggs as everything. We really enjoyed it, tip of 20% is automatic, which I thing should not be necessary as it's unfriendly, compulsively, because if it's as good as it was people will pay it voluntarily. But will be back if... More

Enjoyed a impressive brunch menu. Both pancakes on the meny to die for and kids loved the blueberry scone. Everything was just lovely - the only thing stopping me from full score was the .. lack of smile...? Service ok - but somehow expected more.

Had lunch today with the family. The line for a table was long, but after a 40 minute wait be were seated. The four of us shared 5 vegetable selections and two pizzas. The food was tasty and the service reasonable given the crowded dining room. I feel this restaurant presents a reasonable value and decent food, but I was... More

Staying in Venice

Neighborhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
