Although the building's largely nondescript, some very attractive-looking pastries do tempt from the display case. To be fair, I'd only tasted one: the apple tart (tarte aux pommes). It's fairly thick, with crispy-juicy apple slices layered atop a mostly appealing crust. While this tarte is above-average (yet not outstanding) - it's disappointingly overpriced, even for Los Angeles, at $5.75. I'm... More

I was on the fence about writing this review because I love this place and do not want a million people to discover my secret spot BUT the owners and staff are so incredibly friendly and the dishes and pastries are superb so this place deserves a shout-out. After yoga, friends and I were trying to find a place for... More

We had breakfast at this beautiful little cafe bakery -- not a lot of tables, but very cozy. The owners are behind the counter, and they stand behind their menu items, too. The whipped cream was as light as air, without that gummy aftertaste you so often get these days from whipped cream. The side of potatoes was a little... More

This is a little hole in the wall family owned spot in an up and coming neighborhood but I assure you the croissants are some of the best in LA. It's a great community spot.

I have been going to this little jem for many years, first having read a review in the LA times. I have never gotten anything here that is not delicious. The mini quiches and the chocolate chip crossiants are the best ever. There is a large selection of "long bread" (as my kids call it) beyond what one finds pretty... More

First visit two weeks ago. This is an excellent bakery that also serves a limited number of egg dishes. The pastries are as good as I've had anywhere. The atmosphere isn't: maybe seating inside for 3-4 people. We sat outside on the sidewalk which was ok. It is on Pico which is a busy street. You go to this place... More

A good temple to worship the Holy Croissant. This is it! (Everytime I go there I'm half expecting to be greeted by a dominatrix with whip in hand... "Welcome to La Maison du Pain!" (i mean, i know 'pain' means 'bread' in french but still...)
