Food is very good for this Asian pallet, especially the rice bowls ("don"). The miso soup is sub par, though.

This was a very unexpected type of restaurant- and all good. Reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere, easy parking (for dinner), interesting food, healthy options, tasty food. The staff was exceptionally friendly--a very welcoming staff from the reservation taker/host/ several servers. We went early around 6pm, seemed very busy/ filled up by 6:30- suggest reservations

This restaurant, I'm told, is authentic Japanese cuisine; this is not a sushi place rather unique dishes not traditionally seen on Japanese menus in the bay area; it is worth the visit; I'll be going back!

My wife and i stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed. We actually tried to go there a few weeks earlier for dinner, but the place was packed with an 1 hour wait. So we came back for lunch. About a 10 min wait to get seated. When you arrive walk down to the stand/table where you will find... More

Found this restaurant on Yelp. Small. Very crowded. Nice tables are reserved for regulars. Menu is confusing. Food is tasty but is overpriced. Portions are very small.

I have been dying to write about this place, but I held back because I didn't want it to be over crowded with people. It is already so busy on Thursdays - Saturdays! This is a nice, small, cosy but super yummy restaurant! My kids, hubby and I love this place. We come at least one time a month and... More

I heated so much about this place and decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered green tea and Tuna over the rice. Quality of tuna was good, not much sauce over the rice. I asked for additional sauce. They have no skewer for lunch I need to go back for dinner. It cost me $20 for lunch, no alcohol... More

We are rediscovering the neighborhood & were pleasantly surprised by Sumika. Tucked into the back alley in the sleepy but expensive town of Los Altos, Sumika got authenticity down pat - including misspelled English words in menu, grumpy host/waiter/chef, simple rustic decor, no fussed super efficient service, extensive sake list, and of course, great food cooked simply. We had charcoal... More

The meal and atmosphere was good. Service was decent as well. The food took a decent while to get out but it was worth the wait. All I want to add is that I gave a 15% tip and they made it 18%. Added a little more than a dollar. It isn't much but I've never had that happen before.... More

I lived in Mountain View for 7+ years so will finally write some reviews for our go to spots. I have been to Sumika multiple times over the years, and I have never had a bad meal here. My go to dish is their Oyakodon. I have tried Oyakadon in many Japanese restaurants both here in the US and in... More
