Found this restaurant on Yelp. Small. Very crowded. Nice tables are reserved for regulars. Menu is confusing. Food is tasty but is overpriced. Portions are very small.

I have been dying to write about this place, but I held back because I didn't want it to be over crowded with people. It is already so busy on Thursdays - Saturdays! This is a nice, small, cosy but super yummy restaurant! My kids, hubby and I love this place. We come at least one time a month and... More

I heated so much about this place and decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered green tea and Tuna over the rice. Quality of tuna was good, not much sauce over the rice. I asked for additional sauce. They have no skewer for lunch I need to go back for dinner. It cost me $20 for lunch, no alcohol... More

We are rediscovering the neighborhood & were pleasantly surprised by Sumika. Tucked into the back alley in the sleepy but expensive town of Los Altos, Sumika got authenticity down pat - including misspelled English words in menu, grumpy host/waiter/chef, simple rustic decor, no fussed super efficient service, extensive sake list, and of course, great food cooked simply. We had charcoal... More

The meal and atmosphere was good. Service was decent as well. The food took a decent while to get out but it was worth the wait. All I want to add is that I gave a 15% tip and they made it 18%. Added a little more than a dollar. It isn't much but I've never had that happen before.... More

I lived in Mountain View for 7+ years so will finally write some reviews for our go to spots. I have been to Sumika multiple times over the years, and I have never had a bad meal here. My go to dish is their Oyakodon. I have tried Oyakadon in many Japanese restaurants both here in the US and in... More

Sumika is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. Th kitchen is fully open and you can see the chefs cooking and they use organic chickens. I like donburi especially oyako don, but you will also like other menu. Pricy but it is worth.

Had a great time with two friends who knew what to order at this yakitori restaurant. As soon as you enter, you smell the smoke from the authentic charcoal with succulent grilled items such as chicken hearts and gizzards, grilled rice cakes, and sumptuous salads with different seafood. Try the grilled cartilage for crunch and a tasty treat.

This is a hidden gem located in a small plaza in downtown Los Altos. If you have never tried yakitori before, or even if you have, you need to go here. It's as authentic an experience as one can get outside of Japan. There were 4 of us so we tried a lot of things...from chicken thighs to chicken hearts.... More

I have been here countless times. The ingredients are of the highest quality and the food is elevated and delicious. The place is familial and warm and full of both locals and folks who make a pilgrimage from all over the Bay Area. The staff is professional and knowledgeable and the sake menu us extensive. But it is all about... More
