Staying at the Queen Mary with a young child and no car the restaurant choices are limited. The Reef is walking distance. Reading some other Trip Advisor reviews we learned that they have an early bird special so decided to try the restaurant.
We made 5 pm reservations. Upon arrival no mention was made of the early bird special by staff and we were handed regular menus. We spoke up and inquired about the early bird. Waitress said she needed to check but returned with "early bird menus.
Apparently on weekends the early bird is available 4:30 to 5:30 pm and weeknights 4:30 to six pm. It' is actually a good deal- choice of salad or soup, four entrees to choose from and dessert for $29.95 pp plus tax, tip and drinks. My wife had salmon and I had prime rib.
Meal was tasty, not fantastic, but a heckuva good deal.
Restaurant's service is good, some views of the waterfront and they have an outdoor seating area. They do have a children's menu as well.

A nice evening walk from the Queen Mary, with great views across the water, we asked for the Early Diner special we had read about on Trip Advisor. It wasn’t listed on the menu and the server had to go confirm it and bring us a special menu. It’s a 3 course fixed price meal with good options. Mine was salmon with veggies in a teriyaki sauce and was delicious. My husband had a good sized prime rib, which was a little too rare for him, but he finished every bite.
Our grandson had a grilled cheese sandwich off the kids menu, and it came with a sundae for dessert. We were all happy walking back across a park to the Queen Mary.

This venue is impeccable! The views, the ambiance, the staff are amazing. The apps, drinks, and entrees are great. From turkey meatballs to salmon, it rings bells. The garlic mash ain’t bad at all. Portion sizes are ideal for any guest. Just go already.

My daughter had a wedding reception here last week, the food was horrible, was supposed to be some pasta with steak, was steak with something that looked like broccoli but long strings, even salad was horrible. For the price should have been better than old iceberg lettuce. Nobody ate it.

I just had a clam chowder soup and a wedge salad. Both were tasty and perfect. Couldn't go wrong with the chosen wine (a Coppola pinot noir) either. There is not an abundance of restaurants on this side of Long Beach, so although the property looks like a huge hospitatilty place catering to christmas parties etc., individual dines are not likely to be disappointed.

Worst experience in more than 60 years of eating & celebrating at restaurants. While this restaurant has a long history & great memories, it apparently has changed management & is no longer maintaining the service, food or excellence of yesterday. If it continues down this disastrous road, it won't be here much longer. R.I.P.
We had a party of 12 & an early 6:30 reservation, 6 individuals after having placed their orders were told at deferent times their ordered food items were not available. The waitress was rude & incompetent from the beginning. We had to bend to her rules & the customer was never right. She even argued & refused to delete ordered items on the check that were not provided. The food was inedible either from being way too salty or no taste or seasoning at all! How does a restaurant, which was quiet empty (now I know why) run out of 6 menu items before 7:30 pm?
The most disgusting thing was when the waitress brought out cut up salmon after having previously told the customer that she couldn't have her ordered salmon because the last one had been dropped on the floor. She explained that the cut up one had been left over from a banquet! REALLY??? - it wasn't eaten because who could be sure which explanation was true!
You've been warned & should avoid this mismanaged restaurant like the plague!

You can go to The Reef for brunch which is great (about 55$ a person), you can have a mid range price lunch (I suggest any of the sandwiches), and you have a fine dinning experience. They also have a great happy hour with snacks and sliders.
The eatery is lovely. It is large but I suggest a reservation anyway. You can dine inside or out. If the weather is kind, I suggest you sit outside, right next to the water. The Reef is very clean inside and out and the bathrooms are also spotless.
The service is just wonderful. You may have to wait a minute to get a seat, but once seated your server knows the menu well and can guide you. We love the fried fish, not the healthiest choice, but fried calamari and fish and chips are so great. They also have fresh fish which is wonderful. We also love their onion rings.
This place is right near the Queen Mary and other cute attractions so if you are visiting Long Beach this is one great place to stop at. Have a wonderful time.

We only came for Happy Hour but the Wine options were very good and nicely priced for Happy Hour. The Poke was terrific and LOTS of Tuna, sliders were great and the tacos were good as well, but the star was the Poke. Service was wonderful, friendly staff. I think Happy Hour is in the bar area only but there is outdoor seating as well so plenty of room.

We were staying at the Maya Hotel with super friendly staff and good customer service, and decided to try dinner at the Reef restaurant. The 2 courses of food we had were excellent, salmon and swordfish mains were super quality. We had window seats with a great view, the restaurant was not busy and we had high hopes having called in that morning and spoken with a lovely engaging server. Our waitress Miriam seemed to be in a hurry to take our orders, and was not interested in making conversation. We had warm bread and starters served to us and then less than 15 minutes later our main courses were delivered to our table without any apology or recognition that it was too soon and I was still clearly eating my tuna starter. When asked if we wanted dessert I said we did not and our cheque arrives minutes later without any offer of coffee or more drinks. Our bill shows we arrived at 6.55pm and were charged for our meal at 7.48pm. A disappointing ending to a rather delicious meal, we went back to the Maya Hotel where staff greeted us warmly and served us drinks for the rest of the evening.

Went to eat at this restaurant tonight and were told we would have to pay $40 to park in the car park. I don’t mind paying for parking, but $40 is extortionate, a great way to turn customers away. Maybe it was just a random guy in the car park trying to scam money.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We do not charge any fee for parking. Usually on busier days we will have a complimentary valet service. They do suggest a $4.50 tip but it is only a suggestion not at all mandatory. On behalf of the Reef, I apologize for this terrible experience. We hope one day you may choose to dine with us again someday.

The Reef Restaurant dining experience, starting with the nice front walk surrounded with waterfalls and beautifully manicured gardens. Large windows a view of Queensway Bay and the Downtown Long Beach skyline that can be enjoyed from all the tables, and from two open patios perched above the water line, while the Sundeck Terrace, with its backdrop of Queen Mary near by.
Great place to eat. The drinks, food, and service were all great. Very warm and friendly.

The wife and I had some time before we needed to get on our cruise so we decided to eat something before we got on board. It was a Sunday so the restaurant was serving a Champagne Brunch. They had almost anything you could want to eat at the buffet. Everything we tried was wonderful. The only downfall was the service was a little slow. I did try to keep in mind that they were very busy.

Great location but feels dated or industrial, in part because the visitor passes the shipping and trucks comign into the Long Beach Harbor.

We go to The Reef on special occasions. The food is delicious and traditional fish and steaks. It's pricey but nice. The patio has a beautiful view of the Long Beach harbor. It's bit hard to find, so use your navigation. Then enjoy!
