I have been going here since the 80's and it has never disapointed me. Classic Italian dises with impeccable service

This was the first "good" downtown Long Beach restaurant in a generation. It featured and still does dependable modern italian food. It is fine for conventioneers, large enough to host large meetings and banquets and has ersatz atmosphere--Italian language lessons piped into the bathrooms! Should you want cutting edge Italian cuisine, you will have to drive a bit further.

We went on December 31st. Very busy but good service. The problem is the food. The calamari were rubbery. For the main course we took the veal scalopinni. The veal was OK but the pasta too cook and the olio almost non existent. The broccoli was too cooked and the carrots undercooked.

What a great place to hold an office lunch party for the holidays. This is the second year that we chose this location. We selected the menu and every step of the way service was impeccable. We brought our own wines in, paid the corking fee, and were so happy with the overall approach. Our choices were beef medallions, vegetarian... More

great for intimate lunch or dinner, fair portions and the food is exquisite. Worth trying it at least once. Be prepared for a hefty check

I'm Asian but love Italian food. I tried L'Opera for lunch. And boy was I right! The best caprese (burrata chese). I could eat that cheese forever. The breads in different types (soft rolls, flat crunchy and crunchy sticks) were a perfect match with the pesto. Then came this massive steak, cooked to a perfect medium with gorgonzola and crunchy... More

This is an up scale restaurant and bar. It is a little more expensive but what a great selection of wines, food and ambience.

There are restaurants that are OK, good, very good and even excellent. Based on our first time experience for lunch I say this restaurant is exceptional. My wife and I split a salad and had two pasta dishes. The ravioli and the lasagna where " the best". From start to finish perfect.

Normally large group meals are okay to disappointing but we were really impressed by the quality and flavors of our dinner. L'Opera served about 120 on a Sunday night with the restaurant filled to capacity in other rooms. Every aspect of the meal was great- from preparation and flavor to temperature. The staff was never flustered and handled the group... More
