Wow! This place is incredible! We were passing through Livermore, looking for a quick and healthy lunch and so glad we found this wonderful place. The restaurant just off the highway in a strip mall is owned and run by a super friendly couple from...Jordan. The wife is the chef and the husband works in the front. This traditional food is made with love and pride. We had a lot of different items- chicken shawarma was amazing, flavorful, perfectly spiced. The hummus is so creamy and delicious with a nice tang of tahini. Falafel, baba ghanoush, tabouleh, all wonderful. Great pickles too! I will absolutely go back there whenever I’m craving high quality middle eastern food.More

The food and the service were both excellent. We were from out of town on business, and found this place on Google Maps. The owner, who was also our waiter, was very friendly, and spent some time chatting us up. He told us that he...and his wife own the restaurant, and she’s the cook. The dishes were quite generous (we got the kufta and chicken kabobs), and the hummus was really tasty. Everyone I saw there seemed quite pleased with their food as well. All in all, and excellent experience.More

I used to say that there is not a single place with genuine Mediterranean food in north california. We have tried all options and restaurants and were always disappointed. Until today, we thought why jot try Petra in Livermore.. and we are so glad we...did. The first place ever since I came from Lebanon more than 7 years ago, that I taste the real tasty Hummus, Falafel and Tabbouleh. Their Kabob and Kufta are also very delicious, the secret behind why everything is delicious and genuine, is because this is a family business and the wife/mom of the house is the one who does all the dishes from scratch, yes, even the meat. Also we tried their Baklawa, it is also home made and SUPER delicious. It has the real sweet taste without the extreme sugary taste that the fake Baklawa leave you with. This place is our ONLY go to place when we feel nostalgic going forward, I have tried other places and I swear I wasn't able to even swallow a single bite where others thought it was delicious, simply cause they don't know the genuine taste. But Petra, it is the place to enjoy that genuine full textured just rightly spiced Mediterranean original food. Thank you Tarek and Arwa, for your hospitality and the amazing food we had tonight, you really made my day and made me believe that I can have genuine food again.More

We stopped here on our way home from Livermore and we are so glad we did. The owner gave us a quick education on the menu and then brought us delicious pita and spices to start. We could have eaten that pita all day! We...tried the Ful, a warm fava bean starter, a chicken kabob salad and the kufta kabob and we devoured everything. The chicken was probably the most flavorful I've ever had. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking and definitely worth a visit. We wish we lived closer!More

We are a small group of friends who meet periodically for dinner in Livermore. This was our first time here. The atmosphere was casual in a strip mall area near the freeway. I had the chicken kebab which came with rice, fresh spinach, tomato and...a yogurt based dip. It was all fresh, tender, flavorful and really delicious! My friend had a mezze plate which is an assortment of falafel, hummus, dolma and fresh veggies. She thoroughly enjoyed hers too! Prices were very reasonable too!More

First experience on a Sunday evening, and I'm certain we'll be back. My wife and I enjoyed the food and talking to the owners - a hardworking husband and wife who have been at this location for about five years. He takes care of the guests...while she does the cooking - a great combination. We had the Chicken Shawarma and the Falafel Plate [Gluten Free], and both enjoyed our meals. As others have noted there is a lot of take-out traffic; people ordering beforehand and picking up to take home to their family. But, we enjoyed eating in their dining area. Enjoy Petra!More

On line reviews were spot on. Located in a strip mall, with very easy access from I-580. Parking lot so no problem. Husband and wife operation with kids helping out on weekend. Loved it so much first visit with just wife and I, took our...friends back 3 days later 6 of us total. Different take on "mediterranean type" food, the owners are Jordanian. Had combo plate, chicken and beef first time and chicken shawarma plate second time. Friends had chicken kabob plate while several had beef shawarma plates and red lentil soup plus other dishes such as hummus and baba ghanoush. Food served as quickly as it is ready, amazing for a one woman chef output while still serving large group. Place has about 30 seats for sit down but noticed a lot of take out traffic orders. The plates come with lots of rice, lots of meat, and salad separating the two. Generous portions, good value. Taste of all foods were comments ranging from delicious to excellent. Free tea and water (self service from large dispenser urns.) Menu choices are smaller than what one might expect but more than adequate for us in choosing different items. Loved their mushwana (sp) sauce, a garlic based sauce plus they have normal tzatziki type sauce for those so inclined. Most of our group couldn't finish their plates due to serving sizes, leaving lots of rice and a few salad items.More

We stopped in after a quick google search while traveling back to Canada. Both kids are very picky eaters and they loved it. I've travelled all over the middle east and the med for work and was very happy to be greeted with that top...notch middle eastern/Arabic hospitality. Food is mom and pops Arabic/Med comfort food that will leave you wanting more. Kids and Wife all had the Chicken, I had the Shwarma combo and we all shared a Lebna Appe. This is as authentic as it gets in this part of the world, check them out, you wont be disappointed. My only regret is we had to keep in trucking North or I'd be there for the Falafel appe!More

I had the Chicken Shawarma dinner two nights in a row it was so good. ($14 with tax) I have never had Shawarma like that. It's white meat seasoned perfectly. Come with rice and salad. Place is run by a husband, wife, and son that...give their all to the business--they are 100% in. Closed on Mondays. The owners will come over, welcome you, and check on you. They are friendly and genuinely concerned that you have a great experience.More

Best shawarma I have had since traveling in Morocco. This place brought me back to Oalidia. Met a very personable waitress. Very accommodating to a difficult table. I had the beef and chicken shawarma plate. Very moist and seasoned perfectly. Could be split for two...if you added an appetizer or soup. They even have Wi-Fi so I could work and enjoy my lunch. The place is a little small. A little wait for a table. I highly recommend this family restaurant.More
