Livermore, for good or bad, is on fire. On a Saturday night there is not a lot of parking and many of the restaurants are VERY crowded. Now I know why we were able to walk right into Bruno’s and get seated at a booth.
It’s not awful but it’s not good either. Whoever is running this place seems totally content to snag the folks like us who just don’t want to wait at somewhere with better food.
The beer was cold and excellent. All the bread seemed stale. I had Tortellini All Pisa. It sounded good on the menu and was recommended by our waitperson. Tasted like the pasta was straight from a low budget food service offering - nondescript texture and flavor. The sauce was rich but not especially tasty and also not fresh tasting. The tortellini from Costco is way, way better.
I did not have a taste but I will offer that the pizza my friends ordered looked better than my dish. But it was Hawaiian style - come on. Who does that? There is no accounting for taste. Ha, ha.
Service was OK. Before I departed I made quick trip to the restroom and was discouraged at how disorganized and dirty things seemed to be towards the back of the restaurant and spilling into the kitchen. The whole restaurant looks like and feels like there is a layer of grime and grease coating everything.
I think this is a family owned restaurant and it just makes me sad my experience there was so underwhelming. Somebody who cares needs to step in. It would please me to see it refreshed. Until then, too many other options around Livermore - even if I have to wait for a while for a table.

Saturday afternoon and non-stop noise, confusion and people traffic. Pasta Puttanesca was good- not very spicy but was fresh. Venetian crisps- $14 worth of toasted rocks. :( Service was good.

First the good - the food was outstanding, the wine was excellent and the service was very good.
Second the bad - we called and made reservations but when we arrived they had no record of them. We had specifically asked for outdoor seating and that would be a 20 minute wait. I don’t know if they thought we would go somewhere else, but we waited and waited and finally was seated.
Being offered a little compensation would have been considerate - a bottle of wine or a free appetizer or dessert would have shown they knew they had screwed up and they appreciated our business. But nothing.

Let me say that I gave you Two chances, also, I am Italian and if I can cook it better at my house, well enough said.
I have eaten there twice in the past month. The 2nd time to give them a 2nd chance last night. Unfortunately last night was worse than the last time. Pasta not cooked adequately, bagged, pre-made. Sauce from a can, meatballs, pre-made and not good. Pasta salad, uncooked rigatoni, shredded parm., a few red and green bell peppers and oil, no seasoning what so ever.
FOOD IN A BAG
Can I say, if you read this, a little salt, pepper, garlic and ANY seasoning is a big improvement.

It was this weekend and all other restaurants were full but Brunos had room so we went in immediately. The waiter ended up being new and young (college or after college) and shoved us through like he was at In and Out Burger. Nice kid but not a waiter yet. Bread was fresh but olive oil had no flavor. We split a spinich salad which was not fresh, it was wilted a bit and the cheese had no flavor and bacon was suspect. So we're on edge about our choice. Then we split chicken parm and our family got gnocchi and idk. The chicken although soft, the breading was soggy and the chicken and cheese lacked flavor. The sauce was just ok.
Gnocchi were very hard and the sauce had to be Newman's Own Vodka sauce from a jar.
So it was decided that all the food was high volume and low quality and for sure had to be right from Costco. It is just like Vic's All Star Cafe...totally big box store food. Save the curiosity, dont go.

A very nice lunch here. I had the Jambalaya, ( Italian version) and my dining partner had the Linguine Fruti di Mare. Both were very good. the waitstaff was very friendly and the atmosphere went well with the style of food served. A nice, selections of wines and beers. Prices were very, very reasonable. Perhaps not the best Italian restaurant I've ever eaten at, but I'll go back for sure the next time in the area and I have no problem in recommending it.

We have had a poor turn out of kids in our neighborhood over the past few years so we left a bowl of candy by the front door and headed out to dinner. Landed up at Bruno's. Restaurant was practically empty. We were told that we could sit anywhere so we sat down at at table of our choice. Greeted by our server who failed to introduce herself. She asked if we could like to start with some appetizers - when asked for her recommendation - she said the clams were to die for. Had her bring us an order of the clams (Portuguese Style Clams). They came in a broth that had decent flavor but what was a bummer was when you got sand in your mouthful of clams. Very disappointing. We ordered the Pollo Alla Bayou, the Veal Piccata and the Linguine Frutti Di Mare. Each of these dishes were in the $20/- and above price range. The quality of them was just terrible. The Linguine sauce was way to watery - looks like the pasta was not drained properly before being added to the sauce. The Veal did not taste right. The Pollo Alla Bayou was probably the dish that tasted the best of the three that we ordered. None of these were worth their price. I ordered a glass of wine and was disappointed by the quantity of wine that was served. The best thing that we ate all evening was the bread with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
What really was the killer was towards the end of the meal - the person who was manning the front of the restaurant decided to clean up one of the tables that was just vacated - he pushed all the crumbs that were on the table onto the floor. I hope that he was not the owner and just the person who was working there that night. All in all disappointing experience.

My husband I went here for our 17th wedding anniversary. The restaurant wasn't very crowded for a Saturday night. We are seated in a booth that had a ripped seat. Our waitress was kind of slow to help us. My husband got the fruit of the sea which is a seafood pasta dish . I was trying to decide between three different dishes alfredo, gnocchi, chicken parmesan. The waitress suggested I get the gnocchi because they change the sauce every night. She said it was a four cheese sauce so I thought it sounded good. I didn't realize that it was going to be disgusting. Something in the sauce just was not right I think there was blue cheese or something in it. When I went home I saw that some people's recipes put gorgonzola,or another
kind of blue cheese or cheese roquefort .In there sauce . So if you choose to go here and you get the gnocchi beware. I have eaten gnocchi hundreds of times. It's obviously was a terrible sauce at least for me it was. If you don't like blue cheese don't get this. I mean my husband liked his food. We also got a salad each side salad. And two waters. With tax and tip and everything it cost us about 70 bucks and I hated my meal. I could never go back here. The service was slow. And the prices are quite high I think. The lowest prices on the menu for pasta or like 17 bucks. So if you want a nasty meal on your anniversary or on a outing with a friend and want to spend a lot of money go here. Like I said if eaten the gnocchi here before and it wasn't that sauce.

The appetizers are great the bring it to the table before you order any. I love the grill octopus. They bring some cheese and olives as soon as you seat down and fruit after you finish eating and a digestivo.

We recently had dinner here having not been there for a long time, ad it was very good. The pastas were very good and my brother had the risotto, which he loved. I had the pork tenderloin, and the sauce was very good, but the meat was not as tender as at other places where I've had it. Bruno's also lets you bring a local wine with no corkage fee. The service was excellent.

The food was great, service good ; but very noisy. Old brick walls and bare hardwood flooing, a bad combination for heating aids.

We ordered a cheese pizza and a mushroom pizza last night for dinner. The pizza were fantastic and it came with garlic bread and soda for a reasonable price! A perfect pizza night at home!
