I am not a professional reviewer, and this is just my opinion. My wife and I recently decided to take a little road trip not far from home, and the Sonoma Coast was beckoning. We do feel sorry for restaurant owners who are trying to...deal with the pandemic while protecting their business and their employees. We tried to make a reservation but got no answer, so I walked to the place around 5pm, to be told they were booked solid for the entire week. No wonder, with the restrictions in place. There are only a few tables available - outside, but the heaters make dining comfortable. The hostess, however, managed to squeeze us in later in the evening, for which we will always be grateful. What about the food? It was excellent, the oysters were plump and fresh, but I could not finish the smoked fish chowder - there was too much of it! It was delicious and full of smoky flavor (but not from the nearby forest fires). My wife was equally delighted with her choice. We wish the owners the best of luck going through the pandemic, they deserve it.More

Enjoyed the cozy outdoor dining experience at Wild Fish. Terrific Fish Stew and Seafood Risotto. Nice wine selection.

Considering the situation where they had to move seating essentially into the parking lot, this place was great! I went twice - once for takeout, the next with a reservation. I had the salmon both times and it was excellent. Done perfectly and had crispy...skin. While eating there, I also had their oysters with their homemade sriracha which was excellent. I can highly recommend. Just make a reservation!More

Tiny restaurant with peek ocean views provides some exceptional seafood. My husband and I started with the smoked fish with creme fraiche....very tasty. We also enjoyed the flavors - anchovy, nectarine, fresh veggies - in the endive salad. I loved my sable fish entree and...my husband’s risotto was an incredible blend of shellfish, herbs and Parmesan. Only disappointment was the mediocre sticky toffee pudding....more of a cake. We finished our dinner and then hustled over to the Mendocino Headlands for the perfect sunset. Make sure to make a reservation!More

We actually visited this restaurant twice due to an extreme lack of open restaurants in the area. And if I’d only gone once would have probably rated it better. The second visit really left an impact and not in a good way! I’m not sure...if they have a staffing issue or a food sourcing problem but the food on our second visit was horrible. The smoked fish appetizer was mediocre served with awful did I say awful bread. Not sure if it was supposed to be a corn bread or focaccia but it was saturated with oil and feel apart. The appetizer needed crackers as it was more a dip. The cioppino tasted of old fish and thin broth, it was supposed to be served with sour dough which at least you could have dunked in the broth, but no it came with that awful bread! Based on prior reviews I think this was a good restaurant but upon reopening I think Covid 19 has caused some serious issues with the food they are putting out.More

I agree with other reviewers that the food is very good, but the ambiance is lacking and the food is overpriced, especially for the portions. We enjoyed the salmon($34) and house salad($15! just greens) . The establishment has very little character and minimal ocean views,...just mainly parking lot. Maybe it’s just sticker shock for the area, but there are better options near by.More

This very small restaurant serves out of this world seafood!. We started with Muscles in a white wine sauce which was incredible. This was followed by Halibut over buttery polenta..heavenly...and both were paired with a Navarro Chardonnay that made the meal perfection. No better place...to dine in Mendocino..and the BEST seafood anywhere - Period!More

This place serves some of the best fish we’ve ever had! The restaurant is located behind a grocery mart and gas stop, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Once you walk in though, you see that while tiny, the restaurant is nicely set...up and offers beautiful sunset views through its many windows. Service is super friendly, and the dishes are beautifully presented and wonderfully balanced. We went midweek without a reservation and snagged one of the last remaining tables, so generally would recommend calling ahead.More

Surprising spot, but really great food! So have desert, please! You won't be sorry. You'll sit close to other diners, but it's fun comparing meals!!

Spending the day in Mendocino ended with our Valentine's Day dinner at Wild Fish, Little Dinner. Cute, unpretentious restaurant with great service and delicious food. Surprisingly good wine and sparking wine list. The Prix Fix menu had such great choices that we wished we could...have tried all. But we opted for the oysters with a blood orange granita and grilled octopus. Both were amazing. Then the entrees were the whole Dungeness crab (a bit messy but delicious) and the sable fish. The dessert that was a must-have was the hazelnut chocolate torte. We ordered 2!!. I am going to ask if the restaurant would share that recipe (please). The location allowed a beautiful sunset view. Only criticism would be to move the trash bin outside the restaurant in the parking lot. Ruined the view and our romantic photo! All in all, we will return....thank you for the service, food and ambiance.More
