Our experience with La Papillon went from bad to worse. It started with our reservation. Knowing they would be busy on a Saturday night at 6:30pm, I used their website to make a reservation 4 days in advance for 4 people. When we arrived at...6:28pm we were told that they didn’t show our reservation (after consulting a paper book). When I told the host that I had made the reservation on their website, I was informed that “oh, no one copied if over to the reservation book. All tables are occupied so you will just have to wait unless you want to sit outside.” It was cold & windy so we declined that option. We asked if we could sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited for our table and was given the OK. However, when we tried to order drinks, we were told that our server would have to serve us at the bar, and since we hadn’t been seated, we didn’t have a server yet so no drinks for us ! After waiting 15 minutes, we were finally seated. A young man was our server and took our drink order – 2 espresso martinis and a regular martini. When the drinks arrived, they were terrible – it was obvious that this server had no bartending experience. My sister-in-law sent her espresso martini back and asked for a Cosmo – it was just as poorly made. Then there was the food. I ordered the herb encrusted Halibut (at $56). My wife ordered ravioli, my sister-in-law ordered steak and gorgonzola pasta (steak medium) and my brother-in-law ordered the chicken. Only my wife enjoyed her meal. My fish was bland, dry, and overcooked. My sister-in-law’s steak was practically raw – she sent it back to have them cook it to medium as she ordered but she also didn’t like her pasta at all, so she wound up not eating her meal. My brother-in-law’s chicken was tasteless. We ordered two desserts – the bread pudding (I have never had bread pudding with ice cream on top (!) - very sweet yet lacked any flavor) and the tiramisu (just OK). Now… they did take one of the espresso martinis and my sister-in-law’s steak and pasta dinner off our bill, but with the corking fee for the bottle of wine we brought and tip, our bill was still over $300. I found that very expensive for what was at best a mediocre meal. I would not recommend this restaurant for dinner. And if you do go, make sure you CALL for a reservation! To the restaurant - 1) make sure that reservations using YOUR OWN WEBSITE (or OpenTable) get posted to your paper reservation book and 2) hire an actual bartender at least for Friday and Saturday nights !More

Delightful experience at le papillon. I ordered a pasta dish that needed a few substitutions and they had no problem with my order. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful.

I was told about this place from some friends so decided to try it out myself. The vibe was nice inside. The staff was friendly. The food however was terrible. Everything tough to eat. Like literally...TOUGH. Pretty on the plate, but it tasted so bad....The calamari appetizer was dry and chewy. Even our bread was over toasted! Steak, DRY and grey. Seafood overcooked! We paid way to much for that. We did tell the manager lady about the food and she just made excuses for it. We left and went to McDonalds. Seriously, it was THAT bad.More

My husband and I had an excellent dinner here. We were staying across the street at the residence inn. We had oysters Rockefeller which were amazing, and the coq du vin was unique and delicious. Prices were good for quality and service. We had good...wine with dinner, and cocktails for dessert which were excellent. The service was outstanding!More

Literally the worst experience we have ever had. We were there almost 2 hours and never got our food. My husband and I along with a friend wanted to try this place as we had heard a lot about the food and we also like...to support local restaurants so we made reservations for 6:00 pm on a Saturday. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation and there was one party of four ahead of us. First off, there was no hostess, just one gentleman who was running back and forth who stopped by after about 5 minutes to say that he would be with us in a few seconds. After about 10 minutes he sat the party in front of us and told us again he would be right with us. Almost 20 minutes later, we were finally sat at a table and someone came by to fill our water glasses. After waiting in vain for probably another 10 minutes for someone to bring us menus, our friend finally got up and walked over to the "hostess" stand, grabbed some menus and a wine list. Another 10 minutes or so went by before someone finally came by to take our drink order and we ordered appetizers. During this time, several other parties were sat at tables around us. Our drinks and appetizers arrived quickly but then after that... We had been there for almost an hour and no one had come by to take our dinner order. My husband finally got up to find someone and tell them that we were ready to order. Another 10 minutes went by and no one came by. In the meantime, the table that was sat at the same time we were had their meals on the table along with some of the tables that were sat after us. At this point we had been there for over an hour and my husband got up for the second time to let someone know that we were ready to order. Shortly thereafter a very rude waitress came over to take our order, told us we could not select the sides that were on the menu as everything came with mashed potatoes, did not ask if we wanted another beverage and rushed off as quickly as she could. I would say that probably another 20 minutes went by and all the other tables, including the ones that were sat after us had, or were finishing up their meals; we still did not have our food. At this point I got up to ask if there was someone I could talk to about our service. I was told that there was not a manager on duty that night but I could email the owner (the email address was never provided to us). The gentleman who originally sat us came over to apologize and make excuses for the lack of service but did not make any attempt to rectify the situation. We paid for our appetizers and drinks and left. We will not recommend this place and will not be going back.More

This place is honestly incredible. Food was perfect (I got the Lobster Ravioli), drinks were great. My party openly discussed as to how their food was some of the best we’ve ever had. Mike, our server, was attentive and friendly. I could not be happier...with the experience. The price is a little high but I do not have any regrets about eating here. The only thing I’m planning is when I get to come back for another incredible meal.More

Our server Jeffe was awesome (great smile), Luciano (happy and polite) was right there as Jeffe's backup. The food was spot on. We had the Ahi Tower appetizer (yum), chicken picatta (exchanged the salmon) the lemon caper sauce was so good, herb crusted cod was...delicious. If that wasn't enough we had to finish it off with the tiramisu (homemade). I am so glad we have a nice beautiful place to dine. We have been to La Papillon 4 times and will be back again and again.More

The old Giovanni’s restaurant is gone and a new and exciting addition to the Blvd has arrived! My wife and I have eaten here 5 times since they opened. The renovations and new menu are fabulous. Service is good but a bit clumsy as the...new staff tries their best to excel. The food though is beyond anything available in Lancaster or Palmdale and believe me we’ve tried them all! Prices are more than reasonable and the quality and freshness are excellent. All our meals arrived on heated (not cold) plates, something all restaurant should do. Our favorites so far include are the grilled NY sirloin with a seafood ramekin choke full of Scallops and shrimp in a wonderful white sauce and topped with a pastry cap. The chicken fettuccine, The calamari, a lunch special Philly Cheesesteak (the best I’ve had in the AV) and the bread pudding. One of a kind treat in the AV, a must try.More
