I have enjoyed Nicks in the past but not my wife. We recently stayed in Laguna Beach and wanted to each in our hotel since we have a view of the ocean from our balcony. I convinced my wife to try it again to see...if she would change her mind. The experience wasn't very good. I was told that our order would be ready at a certain time. I arrived about 5 minutes before the pick up time but still had to wait for 30 min. It was very awkward to just stand there and expect the food to be "almost ready". I was expected, however, to pay the minute I walked in the door. I asked to make sure everything was there; I was assured that everything was in the paper bag I was given. At a quick glance I noticed that the utensils weren't there. I had to go back 5 min walk back. The "manager" looked in the bag to make sure I didn't get other person's order; awkward no. 2. After I had walked backed to my hotel (still in the lobby), Nick's manager called me to let me know that she was missing a couple items. I asked if the can bring the order over to the hotel 10-15 walk. I was told that that is too far but she would send someone to meet me halfway. I didn't want a a cold steak nor a cold buttered Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass so walked back to Nicks other than argue and make them bring me the food items. I get back to the restaurant and had to wait another 15 minutes. The food wasn't ready and they didn't have anyone ready to meet me halfway. Not good so far. Now to the food. The steak was cold, the pan seared Chilean Sea Bass was cold and very mushy. I ordered what the call Fishermans Bread and it was swimming in grease. The Garlic bread was so greasy it gave my daughter a stomach and headache. We couldn't/didn't finish everything. I am/was a fan. I've been to the Pasadena location and that was a very good experience. So was my 2019 experience at the Laguna Beach location. I am really disappointed especially after spending $160 for 3 people.More

Very good food and a lively atmosphere. However, the menu is not vegan friendly at all and they were extremely unpleasant about it when our daughter brought a small vegan take out from down the street as a result. That's despite the rest of us...spending $150 here. Won't be back for this reason.More

We sat at the bar and the food, drink and service was all great. Had the blackened mahi sandwich with a great side salad and skinny spicy margaritas. Highly recommend.

We got caught in traffic en route to our early dinner so called them. "As long as you are here within 15 minutes of your reservation you will be fine, but we cannot hold the table any longer than that". Got there 13 minutes late,...I jumped out of the car while the others parked and luckily they gave us our table. Service was very good, water glasses kept full. Salads, Rib eye sandwich (with yummie horseradish sauce) and fried chicken were devoured. Everyone was quite pleased. Make your reservations well in advance. We were coming from an event and needed a 5PM table for a Sunday, booking a week ahead of time and were lucky to get a 4:30 seating.More

We loved it here. We visited while staying at Newport Beach. It was a recommendation and didn't disappoint. We sat at the brand the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The bar tenders pleasant but not intrusive. The cocktails were very nice, and the food we...both had was perfect. Chilean sea bass for me and pork ribs for my hubby. We also had some superb appetisers and a nice bottle of wine. we didn't book but arrived just before 5pm. It really filled up by half 5/6 so I reckon you would need to book to go later. We are on holiday from the UK, so won't be regular visitors but will definitely go back next time we visit orange county as we loved it.More

The people are very nice and atmosphere buzzing but I found my meal to be oily and overcooked. The Chilean sea bass was practically soaked through in oil to where I would press my fork on it and you could see the oil deep through....It had no flavor. The sautéed vegetables also very oily and broccoli over cooked. The tuna tartare appetizer was very tasty and I had some of my friend’s filet and it was cooked perfectly. One of my friends had the salmon and loved it. For me, this just isn’t a return experience.More

We first came in after making a reservation and hearing good things about this restaurant. We got greeted with a rude waiter and the service was terrible and even the next table apologized for her home state on how the waiter treated us . I...will never refer them or come again. Stayed in Laguna Beach with another couple for three days last month. We all agree that Nick’s was the stand-out treat. Everything (appetizers, fish sandwich, seafood “stew”) was excellent. The sea bass was outstanding. And the butter cake was AWESOME! The service at Nick’s is...top notch too…professional, knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, the vibe is great. Initially, we felt it was a bit pricey but after dining at other restaurants in the area, felt it was also the best value for a nice night out.More

My sister, her boyfriend and I had lunch at Nick's Laguna Beach. The restaurant is located across the street from the ocean - how can you go wrong. It was our first visit and it will not be the last. I ordered the crispy chicken...sandwich w/fries ....probably the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the blackened fish sandwich w/fries and they loved it. Great ambience. Service was great. Prices are reasonable. If you are ever in Laguna Beach and are looking for a great restaurant, then I would suggest a visit to Nick's!More

We were visiting Laguna Beach from Florida and Las Vegas and we all were happy with our food. Good and fast service! Thai spicy salad is a bomb!! My husband really enjoyed Chicken fried chicken 🐔 Chicken tortillas soup was very good as well.

Came to the area on a business trip and wanted to find a place for dinner. As always, did a quick look on TripAdvisor to see if any nearby good restaurants….and found this gem. Service was five star, along with the food. Highly recommend the...quinoa kale salad (so good I will do my best to make something similar at home). Prices totally reasonable. A must if in the area. Great location/place for a dinner with your special someone. I am already planning my trip back!More
