In business 20+ years and it shows! Low Mein, Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken...everyone loved their meals. More authentic than the typical Asian food chain. Online ordering worked well.

Run, don't walk to Soul of China, where the service is always friendly and with a smile. The nice lady who runs the lunch and dinner program has memorized our standard orders so each time we arrive, she says, "your usual?" and we nod. She...even remembers our drink orders and that we like extra spicy. I can't say much about the meat dishes, as we are mostly vegetarian...the vegetable dishes are all outstanding. We order the orange chicken with fried tofu substituted for the chicken, and it's a perfect meal in and of itself. Vegetable chow mein and moo shu veggies are also great. Never had a bad meal here, and this is one of our regular stops every month.More

Safeway left this strip mall a couple years ago and nobody has taken over that anchor space, but don't let the scare you off. Yes, the big parking lot is mostly vacant but at the far end sit two great eating spots, side by side....The French Rotisserie (I'll cover in a separate review) and The Soul of China. There's never a crowd at this enjoyable spot mainly because the whole outside area seems sort of dead. I think that keeps many people away. Good. We've never had to wait for a table and the relaxed, nicely appointed, white-tablecloth interior is always quiet and spotless. It's a Chinese family-owned restaurant with a broad menu and everything is always excellent. My wife loves the broccoli chicken, I usually get the Moo-Shu Chicken or Phad Thai. My friend raves about their Kung Pow Chicken. They have a decent beer & wine selection and the staff is always smiling and seem to sincerely care about their service and your take on the food. Just get past the empty parking lot outside and enjoy this laid back gem.More

All of our selections of food were quite good. We had the house fried rice, a chicken dish, and the assorted appetizers. The service was polite and timely. The glass pinot grigio was the only disappointment-perhaps it was a bad bottle. We will make sure...to return!More

First visit here and it was way better than even the reviews say. We are from Northern California where Asian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking experience far exceeds Coachella Valley. But don't be fooled. The food here is extremely well prepared, fresh and authentic, and generous....We gave up hope about finding Chinese food that went beyond typical resort area tastes so we are very excited about this unpretentious restaurant. It is a bit hard to find, tucked away in a almost deserted shopping center and we are afraid its location will cause folks to not try it. Please do yourself a favor and be as satisfied as we were.More

Called in a carry out order and 20 minutes later we were enjoying the best Chinese food I've had in a long time! Staff was so friendly, on the phone and at pick up. Even carried our order out to the car! We had Crispy...Cream Cheese Wontons, Mixed Vegetable Rice, Broccoli Beef, Sesame Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Lemon Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. All delicious and still hot when we got home. Fortune cookies even had good fortunes ;-) Loved it ALL!More

We both love Asian cooking, especially Chinese, and especially curries. This rather remote, unassuming restaurant gets our vote as new arrivals in La Quinta. Tucked away in an aging mall, the interior is very well appointed down to nice soft unobtrusive music that enhanced the...environment and our dining. We both enjoyed their very fresh spring rolls before diving into a chicken curry for my part and a vegetarian curry for my wife. We usually mix these. My wife, who serviced in the Peace Corp in Southeast Asia, voiced her approval as being very true to that served in Asia. I washed my offering down with a couple of beers while my wife chose Pinot Grigio. Gratefully satisfied and eager to try other dishes.More

Stopped for dinner. Had the "A" meal and it was great. Good portions and the taste was very good. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Sake and name wines are available but I think that the prices were high. Go and enjoy yourself with...some good food.More

This was our first visit to Soul of China. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and taken to a table. As we were perusing the menu, we looked around the restaurant. The decor is very Asian and in good taste. We ordered two dishes and...steamed rice. We were asked if we wanted it spicy or mild. We selected spicy. The food was very tasty, slightly spicy and cooked very well. One of the dishes was shrimp with vegetables and one was chicken and eggplant. The vegetables that came with the shrimp were cooked a little al dente, which is perfect. The eggplant was also cooked to perfection. The prices were very reasonable. We definitely recommend Soul of China. You should try it, you will not be sorry.More

Everything we've tried from the menu has been delicious and the staff are friendly and competent. We especially enjoy the sweet and sour chicken - always ask for extra pineapple and it's always graciously offered.
