Visiting San Diego during a pandemic means that we were able to walk right into a restaurant that typically has a line around the block. After trying it for the first time, I would definitely say it's worth the wait. My boyfriend had the dutch...baby and it was such a unique and tasty treat. I had the savory spinach crepe myself and it made me feel like I didn't miss out on the famous pancakes. It was so GOOD! Don't think you can go wrong with anything at this place.More

While staying at the Grande Colonial, we learned that the restaurant was closed due to Covid-19 for Breakfast, but they recommended Richard Walker's Pancake House. The hotel was excellent with texting us the information for finding the online menu and ordering information. The menu and...ordering process was easy to navigate and time. As we were having a lazy morning, we decided to do a pick up food order. We ordered the Dutch pancake, and the Apple baked pancake, both were hot and the serving ample. The breakfast condiments (syrup, lemon, powdered sugar, butter) that were included were more than sufficient to make the meal delicious. I am sure we would have enjoyed eating at the restaurant, but with the many restrictions, they have figured out a way to serve the many different needs of their diners. Thank you, we will return.More

We were told this place was a no go, but for the sake of convenience we tried anyway. We had the best pancakes ever! Best egg omelette too. I tried the egg whites w veggies and my husband tried the Santa Fe. Both were delicious...and great flavor! Oh and the coffee was much better than next door. Didn’t understand how or why but it was. We enjoyed the open space and friendly staff as well.More

We enjoyed our breakfast so much we went back two days later. First time sat inside socially distanced. Waiter was superb! I had the spinach mushroom crepes with potato pancakes. Two HUGE crepes came out with tasty sauce. The serving size was so huge I...could only eat one! Fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juice. Second visit I did an egg and sausage. Perfect and those pancakes on side were wonderfully fluffy. This time we had to wait as a Saturday morning at 10am, but line moved fast! Equally great service!More

Well-spaced patio dining. Plenty of menu choices for breakfast. Delicious coffee, which they also sell in bags. Higher-price point though. If you are on tighter budget, there are other lower-price breakfast places just as close to the Grande Colonial.More

We went here for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. All the hype is confirmed! We ordered the famous apple pancake, cinnamon pancake, and Mediterranean omelette. I was very pleased with all the breakfast entrees especially the omelette. The omelette was cooked to perfection. My...teenage daughters don't even like eggs and veggies but they finished this dish. Need I say more? This place has my seal of approval. I would go back again if I'm in San Diego.More

We ate there in July and they had plenty of outdoor seating and the food was amazing. There was a bit of a line since they only did outdoor seating but it wasn't too bad- maybe 15 minutes before we were seated. I ordered an...omelette and while it takes 20 mins to make, it's worth every bit of the wait. My wife ordered pancakes and they were next level good. The price is about what you would expect for such a hearty breakfast meal. We will be going back to this place a few more times before we leave the area.More

Let me start by saying that the food here is great and the service we received from our waiter was also great. The reason for one star is the horrendous attitude of the manager Luis when I requested to speak with him. My complaint is...the fact that at least 2 persons in the kitchen preparing food were not wearing face masks. When I told him about it and that I wasn't willing to pay the check because I felt the possibilities of getting sick with Covid-19 had increased because of it for me and my family, what I was expecting was him saying that he would at least look into it, but instead, he started scolding me for going out and eating out, saying that I should stay home if I didn't want to get sick. He complained of how he was "sweating like a pig" (his literal words) because of walking in the restaurant with his facemask on. He said that it gets really hot in the kitchen and that was why they were taking off their face masks. However, I seriously doubt that Luis is enforcing the face mask rules, because when they brought our plates, Pedro, one of the people bringing our plates was not wearing a face mask either. We told our waiter (Rick M. was the name on the check) about it and he told us that he was going to tell him about it. I got so upset at the moment that I reiterated my unwillingness to pay and he just said "Well, do you want me to call the police?" So I said "Call the police!" and he grabbed his cell. phone and it looked like he was making a call and didn't come back to the table. We waited around 30-40 minutes for the police to arrive but it never got there. We got tired of waiting so we did pay the check and left the place. This is the worst manager I have ever spoken with. I totally understand that it gets hot in the kitchen but there are measures you can take to deal with that situation and still comply with regulations of wearing a face mask. I will go back to this restaurant as I love the food but not until this pandemic is over. I don't feel safe dining in with them.More

no, they do not take reservations. It can get busy on the weekend, but the line goes quickly. Worth the wait.
