My husband took me as a surprise for my birthday (February) and it was an incredible experience for us. The food was delicious, but the view was even better. Definitely go on a day where high tide and the sunset match up. As we arrived...the sun was starting to set, and it was a beautiful day. The waves got bigger as the the night progressed, but we were still able to watch the sun completely set.More

We went to the high tide brunch and sat right at the window. This is definitely the spot to sit! It was a beautiful day to watch the people scuba diving, kayaking and surfing. The brunch tables are mostly breakfast foods and salads. Not much...selection. No crab legs or shrimp - only salmon. Desserts only a few. For the price, no drinks come with the meal. They even charge for soda. Some staff nice and others snotty - had to beg for more coffee and salt/pepper. Go once for the view and don't need to return.More

On our third visit to the Marine Room, we checked the sunset times and the high tide times on google-available websites, planning our visit for sunset at high tide and requesting a window table. We were not disappointed, and although the reservation was for 6...pm (actually a good time to secure a window table), we saw the end of a glorious sunset and waves crashing nearer and nearer to the restaurant. The service is impeccable, the lobster bisque is a must-order, and the fish and seafood entrees are beautifully presented and ample. While it's a pricey place to eat, it's a special occasion go-to and a wonderful way to celebrate the coast and the bounty of the ocean.More

We were able to partake of the Restaurant Week and celebrate my husband’s birthday at the same time. Service was spotty but Ok. We didn’t know that you could reserve a table at 5 during restaurant week. Usually they open at 5:30. So missed out...on a window table. Food especially - the Filet Mignon was exceptional and desert - Trilogy knocked it out of the park and they put a candle in my husbands cake for his bday. It was a very special evening and worth the money. Go - you will not be disappointed. .More

Wonderful views, friendly staff, great service and fabulous food! I attended with a large group and the meals were superb. I had the lobster and it was truly delicious and perfectly cooked (which can be difficult with large groups). I highly recommend this restaurant!

Another great evening at the Marine Room...a delicious three course meal for $60. Chef Bernard did a fantastic job of creating the menu for this week. One of the best ever.

Definitely one of the best scenic restaurant views you will see !! After researching a couple different restaurants, I decided to take my wife to The Marine Room. We were not disappointed. Staff and food was excellent and they even provided my wife with a...free birthday desert plate. A bit pricey, but I will say that it is worth every penny. The ocean view tops everything off. I would recommend timing your reservation right at sunset for great picture opportunities and a beautiful view as you eat.More

This was our second time dining at The Marine Room. The first time was awesome and part of a business trip. This time we returned with family members to enjoy the atmosphere, food and sunset. The Marine Room is located right on La Jolla Community...Beach in a unassuming building that blends in with the residential area that surrounds it. Do not let this fool you, this is fine dining at its best! Our party of 5 (me, my wife, two adult children and adult neice) all loved all staff members who really took care of us, from the moment we walked in until we done. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. I started with the Signature Lobster Bisque, had the Triple Seafood Delight special (I believe that is it, don't quote me!!) - Lobster tail, Scallop and Prawns and shared a piece chocolate cake that was similar to a souffle . The plating was amazing and the taste was excellent.More

Old school top notch dining. Well presented and artful cuisine delivered perfectly. Service can be slower when fully booked during peak dining hours.

This fine dining experience remains hard to beat, and we’ve dined well around the world. Atmosphere: Breathtaking water views outside; elegant, romantic, and subdued inside. We could converse easily across our white-linen covered table. Location: Beachfront walls of west-facing windows so close to the water...that they get splashed by the waves at high tide. (When you make your reservation do request a window table if possible.) At night the shoreline curls and seabirds just beyond the windows are illuminated by well positioned lighting—we were there at high tide on a full moon in a winter rain storm and it was just mesmerizing. Service: Attentive and helpful, though not hovering or fawning. Food: As good as the view! We chose from California-continental and creative seafood options, with an extensive wine list. Seafood was featured on the menu and the ahi preparation was fantastic. Shaved truffle risotto was amazing as a shared appetizer. Our best dish of the night, though, was a rack of lamb. OMG! Succulent perfection. Portions were satisfying but try to save a little room because there is also a legendary dessert menu. Prices: definitely expensive but not completely insane. Overall, a real treat that lived up to happy memories from years past.More
