Travelling from the UK through northern California we wanted something that was more authentic than the casino food of the Holiday Inn Express we were staying at nearby. We traveled the scenic 3 mile back road to the lodge and upon entering were met with surprise and delight at the great bar, the friendly service, the enormous cocktails (!) and... More

Located 3 miles off the beaten path off US 101 on State Hwy. 169, this restaurant is worth visiting. It is small and rustic, but don't let that fool you. The Ribeye Steaks (only choice) are 12,16, or 20 oz. in size and the most tender steaks I have ever eaten. My wife had the ribs and they were generous... More

Decided to go and check this out as we were staying at the Holiday Inn Express down the road and wanted something with a bit more atmosphere. It is a busy place which oozes local charm and hospitality. The manager who was running the bar that night greeted us and swiftly sorted us out with cocktails. The area is renowned... More

Brilliant drive from rhe 101 in a fantastic location. Staff first class and the food was really good (really fresh cod and the best asked potatoes I've had for years). BBQ is a strong pull as was the wine list (all local). Good value for money - worth a visit if you are staying in the area

We found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It's kind of far off from route 101 to the point that we thought we must have got lost in the mountain. The restaurant appears to be part of the Steelhead motel, which doesn't look very appealing. We decided to still give it a try and it... More

Was pleasantly surprised at the place. Out in the hills a bit. Got there just as restaurant was opening. Access is thru the bar, which has a very good feel to it. Open and airy. Dining room has about twelve tables (?) (we were a party of 12, so smaller tables were pushed together). Service was very good (which makes... More

Service was ill-timed and inattentive. Salad was ok, served family style and plenty to go around. Simple but fresh with a choice of three dressings. Rolls looked enticing but were dry in the centers, not freshly baked. Ribs were of the steamed or boiled variety with a quick finish on the grill. One recent reviewer described it as "soggy bbq".... This place used to be an institution in this area for tourists and locals alike. The last couple of years the quality of the meat declined to the point where we simply would not go. Sue Madsen purchased the place after a long closure and is working very hard to get it where it was in its heyday. The most... More

Located behind the jetty (don't expect a river view) and under new mgt, the Lodge is a local institution. The outside has been nicely re-landscaped and the inside bar area is hip, well-decorated and fun, with a lively bartender and friendly local and tourist crowd. If they serve bar food, I'd stop there, as once through the doors, you're back... More
