The dishes which we ordered are just average. I am unsure of the rave reviews probably by lots of foreigner window dressing the front windows of the restaurant. The menu is very similar to other restaurants in town!

We went there for a dinner and we were more than dissapointed. Our food didn't taste anything like Chinese cuisine. It was more like European version of Chinese dishes. Fried potatoes with sesame oil seemed more like frozen than fresh, beef was bland and overcooked and noodles were not only too salty, but also tasted like it was prepared at... More

We ate here last night and I am surprised by these excellent reviews. We ordered the fried egg plant which was soaked in a thick tomato sauce. The dish was bland and tasteless. The beef dish we ordered was incorrect but rather than make a fuss we just ate it, also bland. Tourist trap. You will eat better at one... More

We were in Pingyao for 2 days and had dinner and lunch at the restaurant. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the dishes that he had recommended. We particularly loved the 紅燒茄子 which was not too oily or salty which was to our liking.

We ate here because of the reviews and based on what else we could see in Pingyao Ancient city it was probably a good choice. If you don't go in with expectations of meals similar to Beijing then you are okay. Nice decor and the restaurant has a nice feel to it with great staff and ordering off a tablet... More

We were recommended Tian YuanKui but were unsure when we entered the place as it seemed most touristy. The experience was better than expected, though overall, there seemed to be a tilt towards "Western" Chinese cuisine; most of the diners were international, rather than local tourists. Having said that, the local dishes were good and we particularly liked the handmade... More

This restaurant is at the front of a traditional B&B and there is a bar area. I found it to offer safe Manhattan style Chinese food, which is not what I was looking for. It was however very good and there was a lot of it. Service was good and the staff very pleasant.

It is clean and traditional. It also has a restaurant, serving delicious local food. I tried Kao Lao Lao and Pingyao Beef, very good.

I was in Pingyao for 3 days and managed to eat breakfast, lunch and 2 dinners at the Tian Yuan Kui hotel restaurant. It is nicely decorated and the food is outstanding. Downsides are the electronic menu (tablet) that is not overly intuitive, and the piped music which is a piano tune that repeats every 22 seconds. It gets very... More

We tried several restaurant while being in Pingyao ancient town, and this one was by far the best of all. It is slightly more expensive than others but quality worths it. We tried the Pingyao noodles, some vegetables and chicken with pineapple and everything was tasty and delicious. Service was also very attentive. I would definetely come back!
