I left a message with the staff to ask the owner to call me. No call back, so here we go: I was served something which was probably bacon, but I cannot be sure as it was unidentifiable. It appeared to be wood blackened from...a house fire. There was a faint taste of bacon cinders. Note to self: do not order bacon. Coming out of the restroom, there is an open door into the kitchen across the hall. I observed an employee on his knees with his arms about elbow deep in a bucket on the floor that contained Coleslaw. He seemed to be mixing it. I did not notice any gloves. Note to self: do not order Coleslaw. Wanting to give the place a second chance, my wife asked what time they close. She was told 2:00 p.m. We arrived the next day at 1:25 p.m. There was no line, open tables and nobody at the outdoor check-in desk. At 1:28 p.m., the hostess arrived to tell us (as my wife confirms) that nobody is seated later than 20 minutes before closing. I stated that it was not yet 20 minutes until 2:00 p.m. The reply was that she said 30 minutes. I pointed out that we got there at 1:25 p.m. and it was then 1:28 p.m. The hostess turned around and walked away. We will not be back.More

Horrible service. We were told at 1 pm to wait for a table, 35 minute wait. We stood right in front of the check in stand for 40 minutes, only then to be told they were not serving anymore. WTF. Barely apologetic. What would it...take to avoid this kind of terrible service? Not much but they couldn't seem to manage it.More

We were there in February, so it was take-out only. The staff was helpful and the food was great. I had the grilled polenta with beans n eggs. My man candy had the hash with sourdough toasts.

If you're in the Joshua Tree/29 Palms area, you know there aren't many options for breakfast. That being said, the Crossroads Café is a good choice. They offer traditional breakfast favorites, plus some local specialties. Additionally, they have a large coffee menu that you can...order a variety of espresso drinks from. The service was prompt and friendly as well. There is only outdoor seating for now, but there are perhaps 10 tables outside. The only reason I didn't rate it higher is because we felt the prices were a bit high for breakfast. I would still recommend the Crossroads Cafe to anyone looking for breakfast in the area.More

We dropped in at the Crossroads Cafe without any research or information for a late afternoon lunch. What a happy surprise. Food was delicious, portions ample, and service friendly. I had the albacore tuna salad sandwich with a side of the arugula salad. My husband...had the “Roadside sssCombo,” opting for a bowl of the soup (chicken tortilla?) and a Caesar salad along with the mac&cheese. We were both especially pleased with the salad sides — both in terms of the taste and portion size. Would strongly recommend this restaurant to any one passing through the area.More

I watched the staff squeeze fresh OJ late Fridat for their Satuday AM rush. The Crossroads Cafe food is wonderful. Everyone works hard. Not sure what your problem is, but the restaurant is far from “a dump”. Perhaps you want... More
