This was our first time here. We were visiting with family, 6 of us, meeting family that lives in Irvine.
There are a few dimsum restaurants in Irvine, but this was closest to relatives.
It was very crowded already around 10:50 am when we arrived there, and needed to take a number.
The food was ... average, though some dishes such as the Chinese Sesame 'doughnut' was very good, thin skin and crispy.
Many of the dishes were not hot, but lukewarm. Many dimsum restaurants have a heater on the carts, but none of these had, so food could not be heated or cooked right there.
The cart service people were very nice, friendly, and gave advice on what foods we shouldn't cut up if we were going to take home leftovers.
However, when we did ask some others for a certain dish, it took a long time to arrive and then it was only lukewarm.
Also, it would be good if the service people clearing out tables would NOT bang and practically THROW the dishes into the tray when removing them from the table... very irritating and totally unnecessary with all that noise!
Parking lot was good and had plenty of space, though you might have to drive a bit, as the lot was quite busy.

We really like this Chinese Restaurant in Irvine! We have had dinner here a few times and i have to say that the food is always consistent and service is excellent. Today, we ordered the lobster, steamed chicken, clams, peking style prom, scallops, yang chow fried rice and noodles. Everything tasted great and the price is reasonable. We will definitely be back again!

A nice place for dim-sum & causal Cantonese dishes. Most of the food is freshly prepared and served on the table sides.

12/13/022 my manager told me in the morning: 「order lunch at noon, and everyone will have lunch at the company. 」
Since I ordered food at China Garden last time, I thought it tasted good, so at 11:05, I called the front desk to order food.
When ordering, I was told: "There is no Steamed Fresh Tilapia today, how about other fish?", I replied "Steamed fish is fine"
At 11:30, my manager went to pick up the meal. When I came back, I checked the bill and I was shocked. One of the steamed fish was priced at US$75.6. I took the dish and invoice back to China Garden at once. However China Garden just replied that the fish is a swimming sea fish, Turbot (not specified in the invoice), and it costs 37 dollars per pound, and the total of it is $75.6.
I think today's question is not about how much a pound of fish is, but the key point is: when a customer orders a lunch box worth about $10 plus, but the restaurant doesn't have it, when recommending other fish, should they inform the price first, instead of telling the high price at the checkout.
Especially when the customer asks whether the price is wrong, and was told: This fish is so expensive.
I don't think we can't afford it, it's just that we eat very unhappy. I hope China Garden can do business more seriously. Everyone should be careful with China Garden in the future, so as to avoid similar incidents from happening again in the future!

The Irvine China Garden is my go-to dim sum restaurant when I'm craving dim sum. They have the traditional cart serving dim sum, so you can look at what you want to choose to eat at your table. Weekends are busy, and parking at this shopping center is busy, so get there early if you don't want to wait. Everything is good, I'm not very adventurous so get the standards, but they have all the authentic chicken feet, and other dishes that Chinese diners enjoy. I'm Chinese American, so stick with the non-innards and no chicken feet dishes! LOL!

Was at China Garden last Feb 2018 for dinner and wasn’t impressed with the food. We had decide to return someday for dim sum and catch their lunch lobster special. Now one year later, we are here for lunch on a Tuesday. Arrived just when it opened at 11 AM and got a table. Note by 11:30 AM, every table in the restaurant was occupied except for two banquet tables which sits ten. Ordered a variety of dim sum to try. Excellent: rice noodle roll w/shrimp, bake egg custard tart. Good: shrimp ha gow, pork shu mai, pork vegetable w/bean curd skin wrap. Poor: steam short ribs w/black pepper (sinewy & tough), bake cha sui bao (no flavor, ingredients inside taste funny). The lunch special lobster yee mein was pretty good but lacked ginger flavor. However it was only $10. Note in order to get the lobster for this price, you have to buy at least six dim sum plates. The restaurant also offers an extensive menu of lunch specials at discounted prices. Overall impression, above average food at reasonable prices.

Good location, the parking which can be challenging in this shopping plaza with numerous businesses. Food is average for a Chinese restaurant.
Price is a little higher side
Service is some what acceptable but not great. Extra charges for tea & rice! you will get ONE single piece of napkin to start...
Keep asking for extra (too fugal)
Garlic Lobster - Amazing
Salt & Pepper Shrimps - Mediocre
Beef with Black Pepper - Nice taste
Spicy Seafood soup - the broth too thick
Peking duck- Skin is not crispy as other Chinese restaurant
The food quality needs to be improved.

Taking account of LA traffic, we left early for a 6 pm meeting at the Irvine Marriott. With time to spare, we decided to take early dinner. Previously, China Garden on Jeffrey Road was recommended to us for their lobster specials, e.g. lobster noodles for $10, two lobsters for $12. Unfortunately the seafood specials weren’t available at the time we ate. We chose some Cantonese standards: seafood chow mein, yang chow fried rice and the fried stuffed eggplants. Neither the chow mein (noodle not crispy enough & sauce was bland) nor fried rice (not enough ingredients) were up to par. The stuffed eggplants was very good though. Compared to places in Monterey Park or San Gabriel, they are overpriced for what you get. Might return for lunchtime dim sum and catch their lobster noodle special.

Very unorganized. They try to get a lot people in and out. Very busy place. The receptionest had a real attitude when trying to find out the procedure for calling out the ticket numbers for seating. The Har Gau Shrimp shell was very soggy and fell off the shrimp. The shrimp was very good. Service is very spotty. The first two charts had no Har Gau...had to tell the waiter several times we were waiting for this. Not a good experience for us.

If you are looking for authentic "dim sum" the is the place. Their hours posted on the door 11AM to 2:45PM. My friends that took me there told me you had to get there early, preferably just before 11AM and even then expect a line. Right, in the middle of the week (Wednesday). Sure enough, at 10:45AM there was a line forming and by 11:30AM the place was full and a line outside. ONE NOTE ! If you are not familiar with "dim sum" you will most likely not enjoy the service here. The dim sum is served from several roaming carts and the servers English is poor. The demand is high and the servers will only give you minutes to make your selection and if you do not know before hand what you want, you will not be pleased with the service. Aside from that, the dim sum offerings are great... Hot, steamy and flavorful. Seriously, you will not find any better in the LA area. I not sure why there are so many negative reviews here as the dim sum is great... Perhaps not used to dim sum served off carts or lack knowledge of different dim sum specialities... The atmosphere is very simple, nothing fancy, do not expect to experience Chinese Cuisine, more of a diner. Just a good selection of tasty dim sum.

I used to like this place. Amazingly there is still a wait on the weekend for dim sum. The food quality doesn't seem as good and the service is just 'ok'. Came here because it was close. Bathrooms are gross and the place needs to be updated.

We decided to have some Chinese while we were in Orange County. This place was large and about half full. It took a while for service and a lot longer for the food. It was OK. I ordered shrimp fried rice. The rice wasn't fried, just shrimp and egg with white rice. The rest of our group enjoyed their food.

You know you are in the right place when people from the background of where the food comes from are packing the place.
My friend and I were (really) the only people having a conversation in English and from what I could tell English is the second language in this restaurant.
We ordered some dim sum and it was crazy good. We then ordered spicy salt and pepper lobster and it was indescribably delicious. Seriously.
Service was great and the good was fresh, hot, and amazing. Not sure what else you could want from a restaurant.
It's a ten out of ten and the prices are reasonable, too

We were there on a Monday at noon. The place was packed and finding a parking space was "interesting". There are several popular restaurants in the small shopping center. Spaces fill up quickly. It is very easy to find...right off the Interstate 5 at the Jeffrey off ramp.
The dinning room is spotless. The women's restroom not so much...
The usual carts go by. Nothing really interesting or unusual. It is easy to order items and the orders come within 10-15 minutes. We ordered the Chinese broccoli. It was good. I was with a first timer so I ordered the most familiar stuff she could find again in any Chinese restaurant...Ha Gaw. Su Mai and baked Cha Shu Bao. They have picture menus you can order from and I suggest you do that even before you start to eat as it takes time for it to get to your table if they don't have it on the carts.
The four things I ordered came with a pot of tea and the charge was $22. The supervising waiter staff was very cool and aloof. The cart ladies very sweet and willing.
The food was good...would I go back-probably.
