Due to Covid it was outside seating only, which normally would be fine except it was quite the windy day with limited seating. So not the best choice of days to visit. But that being said, the food was terrific, service was as well as...could be expected under the circumstances. I will definitely go back!More

The food was very good. Grilled fish on the seafood tacos instead of deep fried. The only problem is it’s in a noisy location. Very busy street on one side and railroad tracks on the other.

Our Airbnb host recommended this restaurant and we should have tried it sooner! We went on a Friday evening and really enjoyed the atmosphere - busy and simple, with live music and people enjoying their food. We had margaritas and tacos, but the best part...was the chiles gueritos rellenos de camarón! These are delicious shrimp-stuffed peppers, like nothing we have tried before. They are listed as an appetizer, but an order could serve as a meal.More

The food is always good at El Mexicali II and served by genital staff who make you feel so welcome. The decor is is nice. Friday nights have live Mexican music which is very enjoyable.

Visited on a Friday evening - the restaurant was a bit crowded (a short wait to be seated), noisy and simply furnished, but that is part of the charm. The service was warm and friendly and our dinners were excellent. I particularly enjoyed my Chile...Relleno. They even managed to squeeze in some live entertainment. I will happily return.More

We were recommended by a friend to try this place. The locals seem to like it but to be honest we have had better Mexican food in the Coachella Valley. The drinks were good. The guacamole starter was excellent. The stuffed pepper starter was good....The shrimp cocktail starter was full of shrimp and cucumbers and avocados but to liquidy. The ribs were a disappointment for the money. Although tasty it wasn’t a rack and only three smallish ribs were served. Not eager to go back.More

All the food I have eaten here has been excellent. The staff are friendly and more than willing to assist people new to Mexican food. This is a very comfortable place with a splash of local flavor. Wait until the train goes by. Where else...can you get all that. Enjoy!More

This place is amazing! Recommended by our mechanic. Small place. Fantastic service. Food came promptly. You have to try the shrimp stuffed yellow peppers. They are amazing! Also the guac is out of this world!

My son-in-law's parents eat here all the time. It's probably their favorite place to eat out. Food is good. Atmosphere is great. Real mixture of people. Formerly a gas station.
