First time in Idyllwild for several days over Thanksgiving, we had dinner at Cafe Aroma the evening of our arrival. The atmosphere (whether inside or out) was very pleasant and the menu had something for everyone. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This is an upscale restaurant. Good food, interesting menu, and a special menu for vegans and folks requiring or choosing gluten free selections. Our pasta entrees were excellent. Our service was excellent. Live music played the evening we were there.

You get many choices at Cafe Aroma and the food is good but not gourmet by any means. I got a seafood ravioli dinner that was a bit tough. I like to cut my ravioli with a fork, not a knife.

The ambiance at Cafe Aroma is very relaxing. On weekends, they have music out on the patio. The food is good. The staff are helpful. We don't eat here often, some of the patrons are a bit snobby.

We showed up for dinner without reservations with 2 dogs, but were promptly accommodated by the friendly staff. Ribeye special was great value! Draft beer choices limited due to introduction, hope it improves. Excellent garlic oil dip for the breads.

We had only one night for dinner during our recent Idyllwild stay and our host at the Rainbow Inn suggested we try Cafe Aroma. The food, the presentation, the decor, and staff were all outstanding. Definitely worth a visit.

This is such a wonderful and romantic destination- it's well worth a drive from the Palm Springs or Los Angeles. The wine list and food are divine. This is the ultimate choice to kick off a romantic mountain weekend. Check the roster for musical headlines- as there are quite often musicians - including jazz - that make this even more... More

Great choice for alfresco dining. Menu options are better for meat eaters than non-meat eaters but the food is beautifully prepared and presented.

It is a bit to noisy for us ..Especially, since we wre in a romantic mode. But when the great team of Pine woods Resort sent us there, we went, to celebrate our engagement. It is a buzzy place, huge portions of food. The bar id not full alcohol. The service is friendly. Music makes it happening. As I said,... More

Description
TripAdvisor's #1 Rated Restaurant in Idyllwild for 2014 Working in tandem with amazing culinary talent, some of which have gone on to The Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu, the Aroma kitchen team uses classic recipes infused with unique, original ingredients, to create beautiful dishes with French, Nuevo Latino, Asian and SoCal influences. Cafe Aroma proudly supports our local farmers, wineries and brewers and features fresh, organic, and sustainable products, along with vegetarian and gluten free options. A unique bistro-gallery experience, featuring some of Idyllwild's most well-known and accomplished artists, featured in two-month, rotating exhibits. Idyllwild's hippest and funkiest dining establishment, Cafe Aroma is the hot spot on "The Hill." Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner, along with great snacks and desserts and an assortment of bottled micro-brews and local, artisan wines, indoors or out, on our free Wi-Fi enabled patio deck, the inspiration of Cafe Aroma's "accidental owner" for the last 12 years, Hubert Halkin. Hubert's list of deeds is long, including being an Idyllwild resident for many years, Professor Emeritus and Department Chair of Mathematics at UCSD, a mean bridge player, and all around groovy Frenchman. Not to mention...You won't believe what he can demonstrate table-side with a straw and your Osso Bucco bone! Music is one of the cafe's cornerstones, and features an amazing array of talented musicians, known locally, regionally and nationally. It's no wonder that, among musicians, Cafe Aroma's outdoor stage is known as the Madison Square Garden of Idyllwild! The community of Idyllwild is an eclectic collection of souls, comprised of entrepreneurs, artists of every flavor, hipsters and church-goers, authors and meditators, some really cool, old school jazz cats, and a few belly dancers and ballerinas. Cafe Aroma is the gathering place for everyone, the place to "see and be seen" and features the most dog-friendly patio around. Restaurant, Art Gallery, Social Club and a Home Away From Home...If your home was this cool!
