My husband worked hard to get a reservation here, as he had fond memories of the tasting menu. It did not disappoint. The weather was chilly, but they had propane heaters and another type of heat pumped into the tent. This was a memorable meal.
Sadly, Sonoma County still does not have indoor dining. But, Valette has a large outdoor area and on a beautiful Indian Summer evening it was a great place to have a great dinner. The service was attentive. The food was great: oysters, a fabulous scallops...en croute, and Szechuan duck break with duck confit egg roll and bok choy. Wow! I would eat here again in a heartbeat. Our first dinner as newlyweds!More
My husband and I had a fabulous night at Valette. The outdoor patio was nicely set up and shaded so even an early dinner on a scorching day was comfortable. We were greeted warmly and the service was spot on. We love to try new...things and went with the “Trust Me” tasting menu and wine pairing. It was perfect because they brought us different dishes so we got to taste almost all of the menu. We started with the hot, homemade roll - it was flaky and buttery and delicious. We then had the tuna poke and beef tartare...so many taste explosions. Next was the pasta with squash and pumpkin soup. Third was splitting the scallops en croute...I wanted to lick my plate. The duck breast was perfectly cooked and my husband devoured his pork belly. We were both served the steak and the mushrooms and crusty potatoes were perfect. We finished with the passion fruit panna cotta and the not a snickers bar. I just wish I could have eaten more. The wine pairings were spot on (all but the port with dessert; too sweet) and we also enjoyed the sazeracs at the beginning of the evening. I can’t wait for our next visit to Healdsburg!More
We had a tremendous experience from start to finish. The waiter was beyond helpful in our food and wine selections, We started with oysters and the house-made pasta. Both were perfectly prepared. For entrees, we had the New York Steak and the Duck Breast. I...don’t think I ever tasted a more tender and flavorful steak than this. The duck breast was equally delicious, tender and beautifully prepared. We finished with the Snickers Bar for dessert. The atmosphere was so relaxed and comfortable. We loved talking with the chef/owner’s dad, who went from table to table. He added a lovely family feel to our experience. WE’ll definitely be back.More
We visited Healdsburg for the first time in June to celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary. We are so glad we chose Valette for our special meal. We have dined in many fine restaurants, but we can honestly say that the Day Boat Scallops En Croute...is the best scallop appetizer that we have had anywhere in the world! Absolutely the freshest, plumpest scallops and perfectly cooked and seasoned, this dish would be a stand-out at any Michelin starred restaurant. The main courses were cooked to perfection, and we can hardly wait to return in the fall to Valette as soon as the regulations for indoor dining permit. The dessert of the Chocolate Bloc was less impressive as we were looking for more intense flavor, but it was nicely plated and was easy to finish after our amazing entrees. We also want to mention the wonderful wine selection that was available for us to peruse and enjoy during our evening. Finally, we so very much appreciate the personal note that we received upon our arrival at Valette. You are certainly a destination worthy of a food lover's journey from Scottsdale and beyond the far horizon.More
This was our first time dining at Valette. I was looking forward to trying the scallops. They were very good and did not disappoint, the en croute is quite the presentation with two scallops nestled inside. Our waiter cut a hole in the top and...poured the caviar infused sauce over the scallops and cut into the dish splitting it between us. It was delicious!
However, I have to say the semolina pasta was my favorite. The delicate pasta was so cooked perfectly with just enough creamy sauce clinging to each bite. The diced zucchini and yellow squash were lightly cooked and had a firmness that’s added freshness to this indulgent dish. The epicuren grade prosciutto was the decadent treat to round out the flavor profile of this dish. I could have eaten the whole plate myself!
The ahi poke was also a winner. The chunks of fresh poki layered onto the seaweed chips, the warm tempura fried avocado slices along with the fresh seaweed was like a celebration in my mouth. I will definitely get this again!!
We also shared the vegetarian entree, corn fritters with liquid tortilla and mole sauce. These were good but after a couple of bites they were just ok. These would be better as an appetizer instead of an entree IMO.
My husband and I shared all of these dishes along with the bread and butter and we were satisfied but not stuffed. I’d love to go back and try the filet and I will definitely be getting the semolina pasta again.More
Our friends asked us if we would like to share a Sunday family take-out dinner. We said okay, but we didn't expect that much. Boy, were we surprised! We had a prime-rib dinner to die for. It was very complete, with apps, salad, the meat,...with a very healthy portion of veggies and to finish, a giant chocolate cake. We are going back when things open up and try the in- restaurant service.More
My wife and I have been trying to support our favorite restaurants during this pandemic thing. Last night we tried Valette. I think the dinner was the best "curb side" experience yet. I had the wakame salad, the NY steak and frangipan dessert. My wife...had a salad, the Petaluma Chicken and the same dessert. All were excellent. I have been hesitant to dine there before the pandemic because I have trouble ordering in this style restaurant. We certainly will give it a shot now as soon as they are allowed to open. A wonderful experience!More
