Everything was stupendous!! My husband and I had our first seated restaurant meal since February, and gosh, how we missed it! Mateo's was the perfect restaurant to be cared for! We received impeccable service, the margaritas were delicious, oh the squash and lobster soup appetizer...and ceviche, and our pork and rib entrees! Thank you Mateo's!More

A couple years back we were invited by another couple for a prix fix tasting menu at Mateo's that was out of this world. The personal attention we received from the chef and the food itself was out of this world. So for our most...recent anniversary (amidst covid and fires) I emailed Mateo asking if he could do something similar. Chef's choice. No restrictions. No allergies. The result was phenomenal. The food was divine. And the wines were perfectly paired. Very appropriately priced. At the end of the evening the chef came out to share a couple of his favorite tequilas with us. A real evening to remember. And a much need respite from all that's going on.More

Made online reservations for 12:30pm, I still have the confirmation to prove it, yet when I arrived they argued that my reservation was for 4:30pm. I tried to be understanding that restaurants are adjusting to the "new normal", but even with giving some room for...this, the service was lacking. The appetizers (guac and pork belly were very good, the empanadas just average and the ceviche, despite the fresh veggies, was nothing special and more like it came from a jar. The suckling pig is the only thing we had that was impressive enough to make me want to return, but frankly there are so many other restaurants to try or return, that one dish isn't worth the poor service and the rudeness over the reservation time, which was THEIR error or misunderstanding.More

Had a lovely meal, Latin style but some unique offerings. Service was very good, Mateo came out to ask if everything was acceptable

The chef of this restaurant focuses on food of the Yucatán region of Mexico. You won’t find tacos here. What you will find is expertly prepared dishes from this southern state of Mexico - Yucatán. My husband and I were introduced to this restaurant during...a food and wine tour of Healdsburg. We enjoyed the wonderful guacamole with the unique presentation and the Agua Fresca so much that, when we found out they were serving Christmas dinner, we made a reservation. We were not disappointed. The 4-course meal was delicious - the perfect Christmas meal. I’ve read reviews that the offerings may be a bit more expensive than other Mexican restaurants; but, it is so worth it for a few reasons: - the chef uses the best quality ingredients that are locally and sustainably sourced - he creates his menu seasonally, which means that you get fresh food that is full of flavor - not something that was grown in a hothouse or picked before it reaches its peak of flavor and then shipped hundreds, or thousands, of miles - he sources his meats from local vendors who raise the animals humanely - he respects the source of his meats, and uses the whole animal, not wasting anything - he buys only the best, from producers who respect their products, the land, and the environment as a whole - he purchases only the amount he feels he will need, decreasing food waste - he devotes a lot of time and energy in the art of making flavorful food that reflects the taste and style of the Yucatán - he respects and truly cares about his guests Additionally, the set is very good, and there is an incredible selection of wonderful tequilas! If you don’t dine here, you’re cheating yourself out of a great dining experience. My husband and I will definitely go back!More

Had lunch today, wished we could be back soon. The Chef welcomed us and went on to explain the dishes. Offered 2 wines to go with and let us taste them first. Awesome choices. The food was very tasty and was quality instead of quantity....Very happy with the food and service.More

Conveniently located across from our hotel, this restaurant looked welcoming. We found a whole new dining experience with Yucatan cuisine, with Spanish, Lebanese and Asian influence. For our starter, we chose a range of tacones (cones) with different fillings, all delicious. Service was incredibly slow...and after a long wait, our tomato salads arrived followed by mushroom tacos. While the mushrooms were tasty, the tacos were heavy - made from cornflour. Different and inexpensive dinner.More

Mateo’s was a great choice at the end of a long day fighting traffic out of SF. The draft beer was cold, the carne asadas and ice cream tacos (clever!) were delicious! Vibrant seasonings, fresh ingredients and unique presentations. Loved the chef’s garden on the...patio.More
