This time it was my wife's birthday and we went over to Half Moon Bay for dinner and spend the night. Everyone was masked and the tables were well spaced so we were at least a table or more from the next guest. We started...with a generous salad which they split for us. For pasta we had the Linguini Medley. LOTS of sea food and well prepared pasta. I was up for lamb chops and they were perfection. A great dinner and a candle for my wife's desert.More

We were in Half Moon Bay recently and wanted to celebrate a couple of birthdays. After looking at the reviews we decided to try Mezza Luna. It was such a great experience. The food was incredible. I had the fresh fish special which was Petrale...Sole and my husband had a pasta, the Fettuccine Bolognese with homemade pasta. We were both so happy with our selections we ended up ordering a second pasta to take home to enjoy the next day! The waiter also made the experience a VIP one, he made sure we had everything we needed and more. We felt really special and taken care of. Since it was our birthday we also had the house made desserts the Tiramisu was divine and also the homemade gelato. We will definitely be back when we want to celebrate a special occasion or are just craving delicious authentic Italian food.More

Disappointing especially given the positive reviews. Our food was average at best. One of the things I often do in a new Italian restaurant is to order pasta with a pomadore sauce. Any good Italian restaurant should be able to do that right. Not this...time. My wife had a pasta dish that was also average, the shrimp was good but the spaghetti and sauce was not remarkable. The bread served at the table was ordinary and we had to ask for olive oil. Though not terribly expensive we did not think the meal was a good value. On a positive note, the service was good. All in all, I do not plan to return.More

A bit disappointed in this highly regarded venue. We were a couple celebrating a birthday and were seated in the nondescript large room with several large parties. A very good special appetizer of smoked swordfish and tuna carpaccio was followed by an undersauced and underdone...pasta. My companion had the very good petrale. Wine pours seemed cheap in motel class glasses. We won’t go back soon.More

Ok food. Not the best Italian I’ve ever had. Beautiful restaurant in a good location. Wait staff was almost non existent. Our waiter disappeared so we had to walk up to the bar for utensils and condiments. Served cold bread with cold butter. Small potions,...small wine pours but big price tag but probably common for the area.More

Sometimes you can review an Italian restaurant on its meatballs alone. Mezzaluna does not disappoint. Good flavor, excellent sauce and no late harsh, off flavor. Insalata Mista had fennel on the side that was a treat. A bit too much dressing on the salad. The...Lasagna was top notch. Light, flavorful, everything you want/like. The waiter had a little bit of a challenge understanding how I wanted my Lamb Chops cooked - so they came out overdone. Also a bit too salty - which we are encountering more often in red meats, in restaurants, these days. The desserts (Lemon Sorbetto & Salted Carmel Gelato) were out of this world, outstanding. In total, a mixed bag - but still worth going to.More

Our table was OK, staff was minimal. This is a large Italian restaurant. My fish was OK, it had to go back to be cooked. My husband did really enjoy his pasta. In summary, just OK

In an area of town without fine dining, I was delightfully surprised. The chicken saltimbocca was tender and well prepared, just a bit salty. The tiramisu was incredible.

We had a group of 8 and our server was attentive and quick with drinks and the food was sooo good. Mezza Luna has always been a great dinner spot on the coast

We had a fine meal tonight. I had Penne Pastore and the Goddess had Calamari Dore. Both were excellent and we have enough leftover for 2 lunches. Bread was served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar which was a nice touch. No room for dessert...but saw a couple go by and they looked goodMore

Fettuccine was greasy, could have had more flavor and they did not add chicken even though I ordered it. I also did not care for the garlic bread or the cesar dressing.
